I don’t understand why Gio would be in RF and Crews in CF? If Gio is in the game, why not just put him in CF?

I've noticed that every pitcher on roster with a slider in their repertoire throws a "wipeout" slider. Surely there are other adjectives out there.

Right now, I'd put Gio out there over anyone else.

Of course you would. You’ve been sucking his dick since he got here. But always with the qualifier “when he’s healthy.” Who gives a shite if he is Barry Bonds when he is healthy, when he’s not, he provides literally zero. You don’t get extra points for what you “might” do or “would have” done.

When JJ was hired, I didn’t think there was any way either him or Beloso would even be on the roster opening day. I was dead wrong, obviously. It’s clear JJ found something with Cade that clicked well enough it looks like he’s gonna be the starting DH to start the season. Maybe he’s found something with Gio, too. But he doesn’t get on base enough for the player he is, and with that combined with his “slugging?” (I wanna say his his OPS was right around .500 in the fall). There’s just no way you can justify taking Jobert’s bat out of the lineup for Gio. Whatever he gives you on defense doesn’t come anywhere near making up for the gap in their bats.

But obviously there is a role for Gio on this team, and it may get bigger as the season progresses. But right now I think it’s as a pinch runner, late inning OF sub, and midweek starter.

Jay said on the Jordy Culotta show that they will announce Friday and Saturday starters later today and Sunday will remain TBD

ETA: Starting pitchers in case I wasn’t clear.

I wish Culotta would break out the interviews into separate podcasts, his show is pretty difficult to listen to.

I think he breaks some of them up on YouTube. But yea I agree. I can’t listen to them hamming it up with each other but the interviews are always great.

He saw you and Naps posts and decided we need to go ahead and get the starters announced.

If Sunday is TBD, I’m guessing Hilliard is the Saturday guy

0% unless Fontenot starts Friday. 100%if that happens. I’m hearing of all kind of possibilities for the starting 9 Friday. Will be interesting to see what way JJ goes
