What do you have against Fontenot?

I haven’t been able to pay as much attention to the scrimmage/stats threads through the Fall/Winter as much as I would have liked.

Going with Hellmers and Money Fri and Sat
Hilliard should be Sun not sure why TBA
Could be Cooper or Coleman to get a lefty on the mound

Have they announced it publicly or just to the booster club?

Has Hellmers really improved that much from last year? I know his offseason stats are good, but didn't think he was in consideration for a Friday night or opening night role.

Good for him and just glad he's not starting at 3rd.

I would go Money, Fontenot, Hilliard. If, for some reason, Fontenot pitches on Friday then go with Cooper or Hellmers on Saturday.

ETA: I think this weekend's pitching will be pretty scripted. Everyone will have an idea of what order they would need to start tossing. This is generally true during the meat of schedule anyway, but it'll be even more clear this weekend.

I have nothing against Fontenot. I just didn’t think he should be given that spot because he stayed like DRock did

Writing was on the wall honestly.

ETA: I finally listened to Meatball on Hunt and Hill. His opinion of Money was very high.
Some of us saw it coming.

He put in the time and effort. His numbers weren't all that different than Money's. Hilliard and Hellmers had the best numbers. That was my only point: Fontenot stayed when he could've left and nobody else separated themselves. Let him throw the first pitch. I've always preferred Fontenot in the bullpen.

Leah Vann@LVann_Sports·57sJohnson said through four scrimmages, there have been no errors #LSU

is this like jinxing a no hitter?

I saw that but I unless I missed something I didn’t see him in the outfield during any of the scrimmages.

I was at the scrimmage on Saturday (02/12). I made a note of Berry starting in RF. I certainly could have been mistaken. He then switched to 3B later in the game.

Per the comments about Fontenot, I felt Cooper did a better job going through 2 rounds of our “starters” than Fontenot did against the “backups”. Quotes used as that’s how I saw the teams divided up but I’m no where near as baseball savvy as most of you guys.

I think you can look at Fontenot's delivery on the mound and see that he is not a starter. His throwing motion is too violent to be able to successfully repeat and give you 5-6 good innings. Fontenot is best when he doesn't have to tone it down to start and extend. He is best with maximum effort to give you 6-9 outs in my opinion.

I believe money is the opposite of that. He has the big frame and easy delivery that you look for in a starter that can extend without losing much velo after 5-6 innings. The physical condition he is now in can only help him with that compared to last season.

Sounds like Fontenot may have the same issues Hess had

Fontenot is the only person that thought it was a great idea.
