Odd. PM must be content with Hughes. Hopefully that means he's showing progress

I saw Aaron Fitt from D1 Baseball was at the scrimmage and tweeted about Bianco throwing out Dugas from the outfield.

Odd.

Do you think the walk on would actually be the guy competing with Hughes at shortstop or something?

Scuba have you seen Zach Arnold out there lately? He hasn’t been in the line up.

There's been walkons before that play for big time programs. And it's not like I'm asking for Cabrera to have his spot taken. The guy I'm asking about hit .180 for Christ's sake. It's not implausible to think a walk-on could at least push him a bit.

It really is. We have about 7 recruited players who would get a shot at shortstop before an unrecruited walk on would. Especially in a year where we don’t have roster space to put the walk on on the team.

It's really not but whatever. Guess you're content with a sub .200 hitter starting. Spring should?be fun.

I have not seen Arnold lately; I'll start keeping an eye out for #2 in the next few scrimmages.

As for Hughes, I think that CPM not having any of the recruits play SS during the scrimmages, just points to his decision already being made as to the starter there.

I’m not sure how you could infer that from what I said.

You said dumb things because you don’t like Hughes, now you’re trying to put words in my mouth because I disputed your idiocy.

Thanks. You're the man!

It is encouraging that some newcomers are out-hitting some returning players (or maybe it isn't )

One of the newcomers has a 5.000 OPS, that’s definitely encouraging, ha. I’m excited to see how some of the sophomores do with a year in the program and a new hitting coach that appears to have a plan.

If Hughes is injured, who moves to SS?
It would seem like someone would practice some there.

Good to see Hughes hitting some. I’d like him get to 250.

Oh my God! I hope no one on the football team sees us discussing baseball right now! It might break their concentration

With most of the infielder recruits having played SS previously, if Hughes cannot play one of the other infielders would shift to SS and his position would be filled by a backup. This has happened recently when Josh Smith couldn't play.

Arnold was out there today, but he didn’t play. Saw him last week. I like his action in the infield, but obviously I have no idea about the bat. Hopefully we get to see more in the next month.

What about Zach Arnold? Is he hurt?

Yes, just wondering who that might be.
Best solution is Hughes to step it up, hit around 250, and stay healthy.

I assume that Arnold is unable to play because he has not since the second scrimmage. I haven't heard anything, though.
