From LSU Baseball Data Twitter:

Top exit velocities today:
Cabrera 106.9
Smith 104.1
Woley 102.5
Woley 99.5

ETA: Cabrera is doing that lefty on lefty too. He's going to be a good one.

I've watched him in BP for two practices and he is squaring up just about everything he hits. In 5 plate appearances against live pitching he has 4 hits and a walk with two extra base hits. I'd say he's been impressive, so far.

Thanks Scuba. How does Bryce Jordan look? Surprised to see him at 1st.

Saw this on Twitter earlier

Only two scrimmages, but Bryce Jordan has looked comfortable at the plate coming back from injury. Just drilled an RBI single off Nick Bush

Bryce is moving like he did prior to the knee issue. He is among several competing for 1st base this fall with Slaughter playing 3rd, exclusively, so far. Nick Coomes is out for fall.

If he can't hit, he cant help. I know he can. Needs consistency.

To who? His defense alone should probably lock him in at 3B assuming he can stay above the Mendoza line.

PM said this morning that Hughes could potentially be the SS, not Smith.

That’s if they can’t find someone to play 3rd.

You're making it sound like he said Hughes was taking SS. He said Hughes has looked good and COULD push Josh. Its LSU, every position out there has a stud freshman or juco player coming in that could push the incumbent. Highly unlikely it will happen for Smith, Laird or Watson but it COULD.

Smith, Watson and Duplantis should have starting roles locked in. I don't think any of the others are sure things, at this time. With all the new talent, we won't know who will be starting till the end of spring practice, IMO.
