The #WoleyMammoth is going to have a monster year; all he needs is the opportunity to get steady PT and that bat of his is going to produce gap power with the occasional dinger for the 2018 squad. Can't wait to watch him continue to kill out there.

The only other I would have locked in is Bryce Jordan whether it's at 1B or DH

Really think Woley needs to be in the middle of the lineup
Slaughter gives you defense at the hot corner and hopefully bat comes around
You can ride the hot Beau or Bryce in the lineup as well
I'm a little worried about the pitching, hopefully Marceaux decides to enroll for spring to give us one more arm
Storz' arm injury dates back to high school - it's why he fell in the draft

You're making it sound like he said Hughes was taking SS. He said Hughes has looked good and COULD push Josh. Its LSU, every position out there has a stud freshman or juco player coming in that could push the incumbent. Highly unlikely it will happen for Smith, Laird or Watson but it COULD.

Thanks for the lecture, but I put the words "could potentially" in there for a reason. Never said PM said he was taking the spot, don't know how you could have gotten that out of "could potentially."

He needs to be that guy that steps up in the 2B spot and it would help this team immensely from the hitting aspect of things.

I feel the same.

According to his twitter his plan is to finish out his high school career through the spring. It remains to be seen what he'll tell MLB camps next summer as the draft approaches.

Arguably the best pitcher coming out of Louisiana next year. Dad is an alum, he wants to play for Mainieri and for LSU's sake they are hoping he gives scouts the Greg Deichmann treatment.

Landon Marceaux is currently a commit in the 2018 class from Destrehan. He's very highly rated as a draft prospect. Low to mid 90s velocity, very advanced command, and very advanced breaking ball.

The very early projections (based only on talent, not signability) put him somewhere in the 2nd or 3rd round.

He's stated publicly that he is considering enrolling early and bypassing the draft altogether. He would enroll in the spring and play this upcoming season for LSU instead of Destrehan if it works out that way.

Marceaux had about the same summer Enlow did before his draft year.

Smith will be the SS and will likely be on Team USA next summer with PM being the head coach
PM giving Hughes look at SS to see if he can handle it, my guess is he competes with Broussard at 2B, Hughes will have to prove he can handle SEC pitching and same for Broussard

Kind of. Marceaux was a little more well known going into the summer than Enlow was. From a national scouting standpoint, Enlow came out of nowhere. He had pretty much done mostly HS and American Legion ball up to that point. Marceaux had been on a premier showcase/travel team for some time now. But success/performance-wise, absolutely agree with you.

Is Laird, Mark's brother?

Not sure, but on Sunday the purple team had a center fielder in a black shirt and red cap. Probably Laird. Never understood why PM has to make walk-ons stand out like a sore thumb. I think LSU can afford a purple t-shirt, or would compliance come down on them?

The lineups that LSU is giving to the media (Luke Johnson tweets them out) show the CF as being named Richard, not Laird. But there are probably some rules related to what can be given to walk ons in these cases.

I've seen this walk on kid leaving after practice. I'll ask him what his name is if I see him there today. I assumed that he was Bryce Laird again this year.

I agree that if Woley's bat stays hot, he should be in the line up, somewhere.

I wish we had a tall lefty who can hit for 1st base but, as usual, we'll have to make do with someone that can hit. Bryce Jordan is there now but I think someone else (Templet, Woley) could take the position through good play during fall and spring practices. Slaughter may not pan out at 3rd for that matter.
