Anybody mind giving me a quick recap so I don't have to read all these pages...

I've heard the name mentioned before this year and I'm pretty sure it wasn't him. It's odd that it would be a member of the working media.

Unless they booted him this year...
I can guarantee you he did it the past 5 seasons.

McCune pitched ok. had a hard time finding the strike zone. Tigers came up swinging the bat got up early. 3-0. Dartmouth came back and took the lead 4-3. Tigers tied it, and then won it on a dropped fly ball in the 9th

mccune struggled throwing strikes all game. he masked the walks in 2 of the early innings with double plays but it eventually caught up to him.

On the LSU app it says we won on a double in the 9th. Wasn't it officially an error?

Nope he's still doing it. Done it ever since we moved into the new Box. Used to split time with someone else at the old place.

That's crazy they didn't change that to an error.

There was nothing to change. The official scorer ruled it a hit and he has final say.

true. im guessing he was lenient because of the sun.
most balls blatantly lost in the sun end up being ruled hits.

This is true Lester and we could tell early on that he was having difficulty with the sun, but it hit in his glove. Many times if they get a glove on it, it will be ruled an error. I was slightly surprised they ruled it a hit. There is no doubt however that the sun caused him to miss the ball, so I guess it should not matter whether he got a glove on it or not. This has always been a quirk in scorekeeping IMO.

This what the official LSU Baseball facebook page said about the call of a double:
"The play was scored as a double because the ball was lost it the sun, and therefore the outfielder could have made the play. An error states that the fielder should have made the play. In the debate of wether one could have made the play over one should have made the play, the official scorer has the discretion to award either a hit or an error depending on their opinion." - LSU Baseball facebook page.

Not balls that hit in the glove.
