Some on here believe no one can match what Coach PM has done with our program.
With LSU being the premier program in the country and having a greater fan base, greater ability to recruit top players and greater overall resources than other programs the following coaches would bring more championships to LSU than our current coach.

Brian O’Connor
Kevin O’Sullivan
Tim Corbin
Naturally naysayers will try to match up PM’s LSU record against each of those listed but you wouldn’t be able to compare apples to apples because none of these coaches are at the premier program in the country like PM is.
These coaches would step in at LSU with our fan base, attraction to top recruits and exceed what PM has done.

all of these guys have 1 title and have more than enough resources to have won more. They all have inexplicably choked in the postseason every bit as much as Mainieri. And O'Connor is your boy Mainieri's protege

Nice list.

Both Corbin and O’Sullivan have only one 1 national championship at their respective schools despite having better recruiting classes and at times superior talent to LSU.

Wrong. None of these coaches are at programs that are the equal to LSU

This is why you have the opinion you do about Mainieri. You are just flat out ignorant as to the current climate of college baseball. The 90s were a long time ago. Vanderbilt has an inherent advantage over every program in the country. They can offer 100% scholarships for their entire roster through financial aid. We cannot.

Thank you for making my point for me. If they can out recruit us now imagine how they could recruit at LSU

Name all of the active college baseball coaches that have won multiple national championships. I’ll spot you Pat Casey (who hasn’t won a title in more than a decade). I’ll hang up and wait.

When LSU can give 35 scholarships, they will be able to out recruit Vanderbilt

Andy lopez is the only other one. He won his first in 1992 and his second in 2012.

O'Sullivan is a great coach and gets Florida talent.

Corbin is a great coach who recruits (and gets) nearly every New England fireballer that values a great education.

Maineri os a great coach who is recruiting at a school with amazing history, in a state with a decent level of talent (that doesn't go pro) and LSU academics.

That is why you are settling for so little in the way of results. You are small minded.

If you want to prioritize replacing the worst LSU athletic head coaches with strong ones, you need to look at football. Not baseball.

That’s two. But, yeah, there are coaches just falling out of trees winning multiple national championships in this era.

Seventy-five percent of our baseball “fan base” is beyond ignorant.

Read this out loud to yourself.

Vanderbilt is a private school, Corbin cannot offer full scholarships to 20 kids as juniors the way he does at his current program.
