You truly think small don’t you? Everything is impossible until someone does it.
So you're holding Mainieri to a standard you essentially admit isn't highly likely for anyone to be able to accomplish. You flat out do not and should not fire a coach that consistently wins like Mainieri. National titles take a lot of luck and being hot at the right time, and if you are an elite team most years and putting yourself into position to win national titles, then you are doing your job as the LSU head coach.

O’Connor is in the same coaching tree as Mainieri
Are you implying that he can’t be better than PM because of this?

He's implying that stylistically they are very similar coaches. He built UVA the same way Mainieri has built LSU. O'Connor has said himself he models how he coaches after Mianieri. You don't seem to like the way Mainieri coaches and manages the roster, so, in theory, you probably wouldn't like O'Connor either. It is funny because you likely were unaware of that.

It all starts with recruiting, and the Coach's mentioned above out recruit LSU consistently. A combination of an ineffective system and inexperienced talent evaluators.

So Mainieri has won as much or more with inferior talent? So does that make him a better coach?

Good lord that’s a fallacy if I’ve ever seen one.
I answered how O’Connor would be a good candidate if he’s asked by LSU years from now, good back and read my post.

Those inexperienced recruiters were not coaching then, they were players.
The ability to play at an above average college level does not automatically conform to being a great recruiter or hitting/position coach, which LSU seems to find itself lacking on both accounts. SEC Baseball should not be an on the job learning experience.

And the guys recruiting then were inexperienced recruiters. On our 2009 national title team, two of our assistants were Will Davis and Javi Sanchez. Will Davis was a year removed from playing at LSU. Javi Sanchez was a year removed from playing minor league baseball and also in his first coaching job. Similar to Alan Dunn, David Grewe was the only coach on staff with any experience. College baseball assistant coaching jobs are generally stepping stone, entry level jobs. Skip hired young coaches with no experience like Mike Bianco and Dan Canivari. This is the norm in college baseball. In most cases, these young assistants are moving up for HC jobs like Blake Dean did, like Will Davis did, like Andy Cannizarro did, like Bianco did, etc. If they're any good, they don't stay assistants very long because of how many D1 programs there are, always dozens of openings every year. There are not just loads of seasoned vets looking for assistant coaching jobs. We are very fortunate to have a guy like Dunn, but he is the exception not the norm. Let me ask you this. How many college baseball assistants can you name off the top of your head?

Is coaching in a location where kids play baseball fricking 365 days a year........with two cultures in his state that are 100% baseball cultures and a bird can't take a shite without it landing on a solid baseball player. Sheesh man.

not to mention Florida has been an elite program since long before O'Sullivan stepped on campus.

Let's be serious for a second. If you're a high school prospect with no ties to LSU, would you want to spend the next 3-4 years in BR or in freaking Florida?

Gainesville kind of sucks, but I think it's more so that the state of Florida has more baseball talent than anywhere except probably California. 31 of Florida's 35 players are from the state of Florida. As someone said earlier, it would be impossible not to have a talented team. Which is also probably why both FSU and Miami have no trouble being regular participants in the CWS.

Is there anyone who thinks Alleva would, after firing PM, hire a better HC?

Here’s my deal with PM. I am a huge fan of the baseball team and went to games pre-Bertman. I have been turned off by PM since season one when on camera he mentioned to a reporter during the team’s struggles that “Our fans are great. They know we don’t have the players to be good yet “
I was appalled that he would say that on camera for his own players to hear it. He was also basically making Smoke a scapegoat. Skip would always make his players believe they were capable of being winners and I believe PM’s comments were cowardly.
I hate for the players when they struggle like they are now but a huge part of me enjoys it when PM fails and has no one to point a finger at.
I recognize that PM has had modest success here. I thoroughly enjoyed our championship year. Do I believe there are coaches who would do better here? Absolutely. I know that as long as PM goes to the WS every few years they will keep him around. In the meantime with every failure of the team I will hate it for the players but take the opportunity to rub PMs nose in it since there are no more excuses for him to turn to.
I don’t expect you or any of PMs defenders to turn on him. I was a huge defender of Miles for basically the same reasons I see you defend PM so I really get it. The difference is I truly respected Miles and the way he always had his players backs. All that being said....
Go Tigers!

I was coming back to say exactly this. It’s highly unlikely he could reproduce those results at LSU.
