Pretending UF and UT are somehow equal is ridiculous. UF has access to one of the most talent rich football states in the country. They struggled last year but they have far too many resources to stay down long. UT on the other hand has to have a national recruiter to be effective.

This is simple demographics and geography. The way it's going to average out over the next 12 years of this schedule, LSU will likely have the toughest permanent opponent from the East.

well since Bama wants the old school rivals to stay then they should research and find out that LSU and Kentucky have more of a historical rivalry than LSU- UF

so bring on UK and Bama can keep their beloved UT game

frick a gump too

So you and Auburn need to join the East and be done with it...

I'm to the point where I just want to say frick both Auburn and Alabama and they can be shipped to the east and we can restructure. See how they like that. Hypocrites.

Heck the loss in the BCSNCG gives all SEC teams hope that you can finish THIRD in the conference and get lifted by your bootstraps and plunked into the championship game.

Couldn't care enough to even say it. Pathetic excuse for a schools so that a bunch if inbreds have something to look forward to on Saturdays.

Sad really.

This shite isn't even debatable because the unbiased answer is so freaking obvious. All non-division games should be rotated. If you LSU-Florida or Bama vs Tenn. game is so fricking important than put them in the same division.

It makes no sense to play teams once a decade and claim we are in the same conf.!!!!

West: TAMU, Mizzou, Arkansas, MSU, Ole Miss, Vandy, LSU

East: Bama, Auburn, Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, Kentucky

Everyone keeps their "rivals"...hell since four teams are so butthurt about maintaining their rivalries we should change the East to the Rivals Division...

It makes sence geographically to put UA and AU in the east and add Mizzou and Vandy to the west. We would play in the SECCG every year but I want the chance to Skulphuk Bama every year.

I didn't read the article, but I'm suprised he wrote it.

I was expecting, based on the quotes given in this thread, for it to be a Bleacher Report type piece. Something done by a seventh grade gifted and talented student.

That's pretty embarassing, if he actually put in writing some these quotes.

No, the only reason we play Florida every year is because they accomodated all the "sacred" cross-divisional matchups and said... okay... LSU and Florida, you're what's left. Play each other.

No, we've been playing Florida every year since at least the 1950s, with the exception of two years (1969 and 1970).

the bottom line here is that it really has hurt LSU over the years... not helped... to play Florida every single season

Not that much, really. The only times it made a difference were probably 1996 and 2006. We would have won the division those years if we had played a weak SEC East team instead of Florida. And in 1996, it wasn't really unfair because we still wound up tied with Alabama but had lost to them head-to-head. Getting in ahead of them because they played (and lost to) Tennessee while we skated against a weak team would have been like Georgia winning the East in 2011.

It has cost Florida more division titles than it has cost LSU.

Emailed him also. Don't care if it doesn't get anywhere, just want him to know how terrible that "journalism" is.

Being a Bama fan, LSU and Florida has in my opinion been one of the best games year in and year out in the SEC. Until 3-4 years ago, Bama and Tenn was the same. I think these games is what sets our conference apart from others. Look at what the big 12 did to OU - NEB. They ruined a long time season ending tradition in college football. Im for keeping the rivalrys!
I can understand your point and agree with you, actually.

But, like I said, let the compromise be that only the divisional games count in the SECCG chase.

There is a reason why LSU-Florida, Bama-Tenn, and Auburn-UGA have never met in an SECCG....

Thank you!

There must be a lot of young rantards or simply rantarded rantards up in here to not know that LSU-Florida is a rivalry with a long history of playing each other. Heck, the games in the 80's are what made me move f.u. to the top of my hate list, and they have been there ever since. I want to keep that game.

Just take it out of the divisional race.
