Gumps tyring to take credit for something that has nothing to do with them. Typical.

I want to continue playing UF every year.

But does anyone really want to argue that Vandy/UK (or any SECe team) has been UF's equal since '92?

As far as the future, it's anyones guess, but on what basis do you expect any other SECe team to surpass UF long term?

We will see who is ready for a fight come early November.

To the point of the post, if you are going to play all 6 of your side of the conference, then the two remaining games need to be rotated every three years or so. If you keep one common opponent per team accross the division, then you would be playing the other 6 teams once every 6 years. That sucks more than losing a rivalry game that truly has not been important enough to keep alive anyway.

Seems like they are trying to deflect so they can keep their Utenn game. It's stupid not to rotate- we will play some east teams every 10-12 years?

Not to be bias, but I feel the SEC needs natural rivalry games. Being a Bama fan, LSU and Florida has in my opinion been one of the best games year in and year out in the SEC. Until 3-4 years ago, Bama and Tenn was the same. I think these games is what sets our conference apart from others. Look at what the big 12 did to OU - NEB. They ruined a long time season ending tradition in college football. Im for keeping the rivalrys!

LSU-UF isn't a natural rivalry

What do you expect from a paper that is going to a 3 day publication.

But what exactly is "natural" about LSU playing Florida every year?

Do we share a border?

Do we have a historic rivalry that dates back a hundred years?

LSU and Florida is as forced a rivalry in the SEC as there is.

And people complain that Arkansas is a forced rivalry. At least we share a border with them.

No, the only reason we play Florida every year is because they accomodated all the "sacred" cross-divisional matchups and said... okay... LSU and Florida, you're what's left. Play each other.

LSU fans love to beat their chests about having the toughest inter-divisional opponent, but the bottom line here is that it really has hurt LSU over the years... not helped... to play Florida every single season. That... is a fricking FACT.

Why would we ever expect Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee and Georgia to see our point of view? They live in their own little world and benefit directly from the yearly obstacle that is LSU/Florida.

The more you play, the more a rivalry it becomes. Besides, why would you want such a good game off the schedule. I would love to see Tenn return to old form. Those were some of the funniest games to watch.

I like the LSU-UF series. Lets not act like LSU is getting a treat from playing them though. I would enjoy athens far more than gainesville

so what is natural about being forced to play every year

What a load of Elephant manure! Alabama press and fans will continue to be the laughing stock of the rest of the country. I guess we are just supposed to believe everything this guy writes just as we are to believe that Bama had 12,000 national championships. Who cares if some of them were awarded by the Natioanal association of chicken farmers. Bring on November 3rd. I really don't care if we win another game all season.

Yeah, but even if you win it'll be a close game. You're not gonna have the satisfaction of dominating us.

Never mind that Alabama in Tennessee have traditionally strong opponents as their annual cross-division games.

Right, so we'll never have a rivalry with Tennessee, UGA, S. Carolina, etc. After this season, the next time we'll see S. Carolina is 2024. Thanks Bama/UT.

If I were a Bama fan, I would want 2 of my main rivals for the SEC title to play each other every yr as well.

Bama is 6-1 vs Tenn and LSU is 4-3 vs. Fla in the last 7 yrs.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Bama run their record vs Tenn to like 10-1 in the next few yrs. Is your idea of a rivalry game when one team owns the other?? We had that with Tulane and I didn't see it as a rivalry...it was pretty safe win each yr but far from a rivalry game. imo

And no...I'm not saying Tenn equates to a Tulane, but I'm thinking the Vols are gonna have a long, hard hill to climb to get back what their status was at one time.
