Are they really though?

I can explain to you with scientific evidence they are not nearly as good as Miami nor MSU.

And before say all the starters were out, go look at quarter by quarter. Teams have scored on them in the first half.

Wouldn't say "soft" but "not as good as they have been in the past", is more likely.

A more apt description would be "young" but getting older with each game.

Not soft but LSU has faced a couple of better defenses already. You do have a point they're not as good upfront as they usually are and LSU should be able to run the ball. Burrow should have a good night.

Bama isn't soft on D. The defensive rankings show that. Granted the only offense they have seen is A&M. But still they are sound.

Our OL hasn't been the most consistent in pass protection and have had trouble running against UF and MSU. So I think it is a toss up as far as LSU's run game versus Bama's def.

I wouldn't run tempo too much though, because you want to burn the clock. Maybe get everybody to the line and let the play clock burn so they can't sub. However, I do like running the tempo after LSU gets a 1st down. I do think that is a great plan that has worked this year.
