This explains why for 4 years BK teams looked unprepared and why it felt like he was so incompetent he couldn't make any adjustments until systematic problems slapped him in the face for multi-games consecutively. Oh yeah, also explains why they look soft in many games. Good riddance.

Everyday I become more convinced Kelly was checked out and just picking up a pay check.

So, the bright side here is, I guess that you really can just luck into 8 or 9 wins a year coaching LSU.

Theory only works for so long. Eventually you have to practice the application. Real life vs theoretical acting out in real time.

Probably the reason we seemingly always looked average/garbage/bad in the first half of games. From my perspective, we were a better team under Kelly in the 2H than the 1H, and it seemed pretty consistent.

It took a quarter or 2 to actually get everyone acclimated to live physical play

Think about it, LSU under Kelly only won 10 games in 2022 and 2023.

2022 LSU beat a Purdue team that had a bunch of opt outs and was unranked to get a 10th win.

2023 LSU beat an unranked 7-5 Wisconsin team to get to 10 wins.

2024 LSU had to beat Baylor to get to 9 wins.

The whole practice intensity thing is an art that really depends on your team. I seem to remember O switching between really hard practices and easier practices.

Clearly BK's teams need the hard practices, because they were soft

Anyone else feel like this was the coaching staff getting their shots in vs BK?

I went to troy for a bit as o line and i was absolutely stunned how they never hit. We had ONE contact drill while i was there and everyone only went once. I had culture shock lol i came from a school where all we did was hit every single day that we were allowed to be in pads and i mean starters on starters and 1v1s for days. How do you come out week 1 at your best when you practice that way?

I think we all know by now Brian Kelly is the softest person alive. Charmin should have him in the commercials

Well, considering Kelly’s record in openers at LSU, you don’t.

This might be a unique opinion on my part but this sounds like an EXCUSE by Baker for his defense getting shredded by dual threat QBs. Kelly isn't exactly around to give a counter statement so Baker just comes up with some bullshite EXCUSE! Hey guy, you want to know what the other team runs to make your defense look like tissue paper, just reel up all the game film from all the other times the QB ran through your defense like you were playing with 9 players on the field. Maybe the offense had better things to do on their own...like try to improve QB protection and block better with OL instruction than to spend time on your wishes.

You have something better than "simulations". You had real time game plays being run against your defense game after game after game for 2 years. So where are the adjustments for stopping a dual threat QB?

Everyday I read this board and it gets worse. How did this stuff not get out? It makes me sick with TAF and the million dollar match that the flagship football program that represents the state of Louisiana was being run this way.

This why they lost 3 out 4 season openers and teams knew what was coming on offense and how to attack the defense. He never changed anything up.
