Austin Simmons Potential LSU Dual Athlete

After hearing Simmons’ Dad on the podcast and looking at his baseball and football highlights, how cool would it be to see this guy on between the hashes and in the diamond in Purple and Gold

As the backup, sure.
The QB position for LSU next year is the biggest piece. Entrusting the faith of our season on Austin Simmons seems brash. What Kiffin wants, I trust at the end of the day though.

I mean he trusted him enough to be the week 1 starter for him this season

He gave up baseball last spring because he was going to be the starting qb. Can't imagine Lane would let him start back up.

I think it would be completely stupid
You expect your starting QB to miss spring practice? If not, how much would you expect a baseball player to just show up in May and actually contribute?

Never works out. Fans get tittilated over their gridiron heroes playing another sport but all sports are now full time and year long with conditioning and spring practice etc

Just something cool to think about. Didn’t realize the kid graduated high school at 16 either

Nope, never works.
You have to be full time football or full time baseball.
Very few can excel at both.

Trust me I know, but the pitch to come to a school to play QB that has the best baseball program in America is a pretty good sell

Saved it here

You guys need to google Mike Miley , starting QB and shortstop for LSU. Played MLB for the Angels in the mid 70s until a tragic auto accident took his life. Never say never.

Stay far away from Simmons
After hearing his dad refer to Austin as “we” on that podcast, he can go micromanage him elsewhere

He is a stud. He is the guy Lane thought was the QB1 this season. Trinidad is an anomaly, flash in the pan. Simmons is 4 inches taller and can pitch. He will be in the playoffs next year playing for some smart coach.

It’s funny how LSU fans claim Kiffin couldn’t win a title at previous schools because he couldn’t get the talent, but LSU fans want all of his previous talent.

Oh get out of here with that bullshite. Chambliss was a flat out better QB than Simmons was. That’s why he took Simmons starting spot and proceeded to lead Ole Miss to the playoffs. If Chambliss wants to come to LSU I’d take him in a heartbeat over Simmons. Kiffin has already proven he can be very successful with Chambliss and he’s only gonna get better with another year of experience in the SEC under Kiffin.

Prime Time and Bo say "Hold my beer."
Also Jared Mitchell, football WR, MLB first round draftee.
And Gerald Keigley was LSU All-SEC WR and starting 3rd Base, drafted by the Yankees.

Man...if you remember Gerald Keigley( caught a crucial pass from Bert Jones during that last iconic drive to beat Ole Piss in the 1972 game) ....you is old!

Those guys were successful in both sports mostly because of pure athleticism. Playing QB is much different. It’s pretty difficult to be a starting QB in a P4 program when you aren’t getting reps in Spring practices and it’s difficult to develop as a P4 baseball player when you aren’t playing in the fall and in a summer league.

Lol. What is this flogging of simmons based on? What has he done on a college field to warrant this? Ive seen chambliss do it, havent seen simmons
