In Starkville LSU was down in the 9th and I kept telling the state fans Nola is clutch and sure enough hit a bomb! We lost but he came through. Good luck

He's starting at 1B today & his first at-bat will be coming up next inning.

The Mariners are by FAR the worst fielding team in MLB this year. The team with the second most errors isn't even close to them. Nola could play the field in almost any position and be an upgrade for them. Though it is interesting to see him start at 1b..

Nola singled to right in his first career at-bat.

Hopefully the Mariners call up Jake Fraley who has been taking as well

He wasn’t a power hitter, but believe he would have benefited from the lower seam ball as much as anyone. The seasons of ‘11 and ‘12 it seemed like he hit over a dozen warning track balls in the power alley.

It’s the toughest professional sport to make it all the way to the top. Think about the great players in college, specifically at LSU, that never even sniffed the big leagues let alone get called up. The talent difference from MLB to the A/AA teams is like comparing a good college to team to a 14yr old travel team. AAA is better but the top line pitching in MLB is ridiculous.
Idk if I agree with this. What about the NFL? They don't have the baseball set up. The rosters are bigger, but so are the rosters of guys that don't make it.
If you don't make an NFL squad out if college, you most likely never will. At least in baseball the team can send you down and call you back up.

0.5 High School seniors make an MLB roster
2.0 high School seniors make an NFL roster
2.0 high School seniors make an NFL roster

Can’t imagine how emotional that call must have been for him
