They still went to the game so they could maintain their tradition of playing over the LSU band.
They did do that a lot, however it is isn't like our band gave them a whole lot of opportunities to play. Also, when opposing bands do not match, they usually bring a much smaller group to play instead of everyone, so notifying auburn that they cannot march so late ends up being a waste of money for the program. And while I did get to hear them, if you attended the game and are a band nerd like me, it's always fun to see opposing bands march.

Not to mention that Tiger Band was done with 11 minutes left in halftime.

Well, of the >100k in attendance, I'd venture a guess that you, and your ilk, are in the extreme minority.

Rumor I heard was that Aleva sent a letter two weeks ago telling Auburn they would not be allowed to perform on the field at halftime. If thats true, it sucks.
sucks for whom?

They have a nasty habit of trying to play over things like pre-game and break awards. You know, like when Shaq or some former player comes out waves to the crowd... they crank it up to drown out the announcement.
Not to mention stomping on the eye (TN too).
So yeah, they can shove cigars up their asses and light them.

Auburn's band is trash. Every time they have played here, they walk off of the field at halftime while our band is performing. Common band courtesy is to observe the home band when you are done

They should have let them play the whole second half. I bet they could have tackled better than Auburns defense did

I don't remember if it was michigans coach (Schembechler) or tOSUs Woody Hayes when the band director told coach his band was more popular than his team. The coach told him he would keep his team home next Saturday and see how many showed up to see the band.

Alleva knew the students would boo, which they rightfully should have at times.

I hate to break this to you, but LSU does this at away games, too.

Every band does this at away games. Part of the reason they are there.

Playing over the Alma Mater is chickenshit.
^^^THIS^^^ ... it was deliberate - besides disrespecting our school during our Alma Mater, there were numerous times during the game that it was OBVIOUS that they had pre-selected little LOUD bits and snippets of something to BLAST for the express purpose of playing while our band was playing. (They were pointed at us in the NEZ; if I had JaMarcus's arm I'd have wasted a bourbon&coke to throw at them...)
Alleva should review the tape to confirm their interruptions were numerous, deliberate and intentional, and then inform them that as a consequence they will no longer be given seats in our stadium.
frick'EM.

I've never seen Tiger Band do this, and I've been to my fair share of away games. Our band never plays over the home school's pregame show or their alma mater. Auburn's band does both, not to mention playing while LSU is trying to recognize special achievements or guests on the field. The really sad thing is that Auburn's band director is an LSU alum and former Tiger Band member.

During the 2nd half yesterday, the AU band played "Tiger Rag". I think we have not played that song at home in about 10 years. You know the one - where the students used to chant a--hole, a--hole.

LSU brought back Tiger Rag last year I believe. Neck is gone for good at home games, as are several other songs.
