I look for State to be able to move the ball on the ground a bit against Bama.....if they can do that I'm feeling that much more confident.

Now that's a confidence builder.

1. We are not worse than last year on offense. 2. Bama is simply not as good on defense as they were a year ago. They lost 9 starters on defense. Yes they are elite, but they are not as nasty as that group was last year. 3. We have a defense that can allow us to win games without scoring a TD.

1.We scored more TDs last season at this point than this season, we had a much better red zone scoring efficiency last year, and our offensive line was basically healthy and intact (minus losing Josh) last year when playing Bama...so yeah, we are worse than last year on offense, just admit it.
2. I can almost agree, but I will reserve my judgment until I see them playing on Nov 3rd with my eyes.
3. Really? Did we win against FLA a couple weeks ago without scoring a TD while the defense played their minds out to limit FLA offense to only 14 pts?

I love the loyalty of Tiger fans, but do not let that loyalty blind you from truth.

Well, I feel more confident than before I saw Jeremy Hill run. All of our RBs bring good things to the table, but he just has a different style of running with the spin moves and everything else. It's tougher to stop because you don't see it as much defensively. The guy has broken two big ones when we've needed them the most and is getting nice chunks on his other carries too. Maybe he'll continue to break big ones.

We need to throw to him and the other RBs out of the backfield to slow down the blitz packages Bama will bring. We haven't been throwing to them for some reason and we need to. Mett has shown nice touch on the few short passes to RBs we have thrown and they have worked really well for us this year.

Also, I'm confident in our D at home. They have been awesome this year and when our offense has a few extended drives on offense like they had against South Carolina, they're rested and even better. I think the defensive stats would be amazing with a few more successful drives on offense. So if we can move sticks on a few drives against Bama, the D should be fine. Actually, they have been fine even when we haven't had any success on offense...but Bama is a better opponent offensively.

And Les and Company have two weeks to prepare

Les and his company had a whole month to prepare for the NCG, and we all saw what happened.
Point is...having more time to prepare does not necessarily grant us any advantages over Bama if Les and his staff don't get their minds right and move toward a wrong direction.

How can you not? The game is at home. We beat them in 2010 and its arguable they had the better team. We have two weeks to prepare for the biggest revenge game in long damn time

What part of the game are we superior to them?

We're superior in alcohol tolerance, tailgating pageantry, beer pong proficiency, the ancient art of seduction, and tantric lovemaking.

Also, we have a better D-line.

I'm pretty damn confident.

Tiger Stadium night game. The long suppressed wrath of 1/9 unleashed on the poor visiting devils. We win by 3.

Well I guess I am blind and you know more football than me then.

You're good at pointing out one example of a game we lost...hey we also lost to Bama on 1/9, you should have brought that game up also.

Point was that we have a defense that can pitch a shutout. We are averaging something like 10.4 points a game on scoring defense. So by refuting my comment with "Really? Did we win against FLA blah blah" are you insinuating that you think our defense isn't elite?

If you want to make an argument based on stats, here is one for you - we averaged 355.1 yards a game a year ago, right now we are 385.1. Last year was more opportunistic. We did not have any more talent on last year's team as compared to this one.

At this point, how can you feel confident vs. Bama? It's a legitimate question. I wish i was an eternal optimist but we didn't score a TD in 8 quarter's last year and this team is worse.

Bama scored just one more TD in 8 quarters last year than we did.
These teams are certainly more closely matched than the 2008 teams...2008 LSU had 5 losses, 3 by more than 2 TDs, 2008 Bama had an undefeated regular season...and that one went to OT...

Also, what is AJ McCarron's most impressive road win that leads you to believe he's ready for Death Valley?
7-6 UF? 9-4 Penn State? 7-6 State? 8-5 Auburn?
Those are your only choices, as none of the other road wins were over teams with winning records...and no, the Superdome doesn't count, I was there and it was louder when our offense was out there than theirs...

Bama hasn't beaten a legit team on the road since early 2010, and haven't played against one since losing to LSU later that season.

Thank you for bringing up more evidences to back up my point.

Did you finish reading my sentence or you were just too mad to notice my point? Like I said, despite our defense "played their minds out to limit FLA offense to ONLY 14 pts", which sounds more like a compliment, right? But a loss is a loss, and we obviously cannot win games with our defense only no matter how Elite it is if our offense can't score a TD.

Yards per game says nothing about your offensive productivity if you can't transfer those yards into scores. We had a much worse turnover ratio and red zone scoring efficiency this year than last year, and the result of that? less TDs, which indicate not only our poor offensive efficiency but also a lack of discipline. I don't know how you can overlook these stats and argue that our offense looks better than last year solely based on YPG.

Good for you to have this much confidence. I'm sure there is no way bama can dominate our D, but unfortunately, to win a football game, you also need to have your own offense.

Keep it close to the fourth quarter and I'll sit back and take whatever happens (turnover, busted assignment, etc.)

To this point, what currently* ranked opponent has bama faced? what defense have they gone up against? IMO The best team Bama has faced so far is Ole Miss... as imaginative as this sounds i think we catch bama on their heels in the first 2 quarters. YES, They are a proven team, but they haven't faced speed yet...

Thanks for the football lessons boss but I never said our offense was BETTER than last year anywhere. I simply stated our offense is not any worse than last year. We weren't that great on offense last year either.

Obviously. Obviously we didn't win 9-6 at Bama last year without the aid of a touchdown. We only scored one TD in beating Moo State 19-6 last year in their house. We only scored 1 touchdown in beating Auburn this year 12-10.

We can definitely win a game without scoring a touchdown, and we did so against this beloved team one year ago with an offense that in your opinion was so much better.

If you don't think we can win, then good for you, join the other 60% of the Rant that gives LSU no shot.
