Anyone have the time when the LSU part starts.
I don’t have the attention span to listen to an awards speech.

Spoke about how he brought Jesse Jackson in to team meeting in 2003. Said Tiger Stadium is closer to kingdom of heaven than his church congregation. With team, fans, etc all in unison towards the same goal. Saban then referenced being able to smell the bourbon from the 50.

Only makes you wonder what if even more.

Its hard to be mad at the guy. He wanted to coach pro ball and see if it was for him. It wasnt and when he realized that, he wanted to come back to LSU unfortunately Les Miles was the coach so he went to the next best thing Alabama

Did he thank the selection committees for the mulligans? His body of work looks a lot different without the mulligans*, schedule perks**, and Covid*** year.

Steve should have been hired before Archer. There is no telling how many titles LSU would have had he were hired here.

He basically begged to come here in ‘87. Can you imagine Spurrier w/Tommy Hodson, Wendell Davis, and all of that crazy speed on offense that year?? LSU finished 10-1-1 and #5 under Archer! Imagine Spurrier that year.

Hopefully Bama falls into obscurity like Florida eventually did once Spurrier left.

Great speech by a great man. You can see though why he retired, even now months removed from coaching and no stress on him. He still looks tired.

Giving you the benefit of the doubt that your question is sincere, the season was atypical in almost all respects. For example, our spring training was scrubbed after 3 practices. Some conferences only played part of the season. Fan attendance was reduced so no home-field advantages. Many players just opted out the entire season, e.g., Chase. I don't think the NCAA even 'charged' players a year of eligibility for it.

I am afraid you don’t understand what coach speak is. What he said wasn’t generic at all…

What do you think every other coach in America does? CFB recruiting is probably some of the grimiest work there is. No one’s hand are clean

I was replying to someone who said they didn’t dislike him. There was some humor in my post. I’m well aware what “every coach does”, but this post was about Nick Saban, whom did it better than all those other coaches, and did it to us better than “every other coach in America does”

I remember the time when Saban signed an extension with LSU, got a raise, interviewed with the Jacksonville Jaguars, and then lied about it to Skip Bertman all in the course of one week. Saban had no loyalty to LSU whatsoever. I have nothing nice to say about him.

Tough to hate Saban when he’s a large part of why this program finally stopped getting out of its own way and became a powerhouse

Agreed.....we just hate him a whole lot less now that he's not coaching.
