The problem was that Morgan stretched too far and turned, what should have been a long hop, into an "in-between" hop.

maybe so. But he may just not have that many reps receiving throws from Hellmers.

throwing speed, arm angle, spin on the ball...all matter. Especially when it hits the ground. Ball will move different depending on how you grip it, and arm angle.

Not at LSU. Your post appeared to claim Morgan practiced in the outfield at LSU. I asked you when did you see him practicing in the outfield at LSU because I attended several practices this spring and not once was he in the outfield when I was there.

Are you now claiming because he played some in the outfield in high school he is a better option in the outfield at LSU than other players?

BTW, he also pitched some in high school so I guess the next thing you'll want to see is Morgan being the Friday night starting pitcher, too.

Morgan was recruited to LSU to play first base. Even Perfect Game showed him at first base as his first position in college.

I believe we would have seen Morgan in the OF at LSU some if he hadn't gotten injured last year. I don't think that it's out of the question for him to see some time out there at some point once they're confident that he's fully healed.

If so, I didn't mean it to sound that way. I have seen zero LSU fall/spring practices.

Yes. How about this just this... I've seen Beloso and Morgan up close many times... and Morgan >>>>>>> Beloso in the outfield. (if you need, check my pre-season starting lineups post from some other thread here on the site).

And then I'll add this: now that Gio is down, Morgan is a better OF than Hampton as well.

For $199 PG will put whatever you want on your profile. Not the $99 one, just $199+.

Then I guess you know more than his high school coach and Paul Mainieri who said this about him after Morgan announced he was going to play at LSU:
quote:

“I’ve coached now, this’ll be my 39th year. I would put him in a category of maybe 5 first baseman that I have coached in my entire lifetime,” says Mainieri

Words that set high expectations for the Brother Martin product, expectations Tre’s high school baseball Coach Jeff Lupo knows he will have no problem living up to.

“I think he’s the kind of kid that’s not going to shy away from expectations or a challenge. He started for us as a freshman and his personality is infectious which is going to ingratiate him to his teammates and he’s just going to work. In this city when you think of first baseman that’s come out of here and it wouldn’t surprise me if one day we’re talking about him in that same category,” says Lupo.

Playing in the outfield?? IF so, where and when?? You lack credibility without that information.

Beloso is no Andrew Stevenson in the outfield so you're setting a low bar comparing Morgan to Cade in the outfield.

Beloso is a serviceable outfielder who regularly converts routine fly balls into spectacular outs...

When I say short hops, I’m referring to the balls that fall a foot in front of the fielder.

When I say long hops, I’m referring to those in-between hops that can drive fielders crazy. I thought those were fairly universal terms, but I guess not.

Sorry for not knowing baseball.

I can tell you with 100% accuracy that BM played him in the OF some because he wasn't very good at 1B, regardless of what was quoted.

So what do you call a longer than in-between hop?

Your logic is terrible here, Russian. Nobody has to see Beloso play in the outfield to know he's not prime outfielder. Serviceable? Yes.

?????????

Bizarre take on what makes a top first baseman.

Give me a talk rangy lefty, a good hitter, someone with good footwork and you can have your big, burly guy beating up runners.
Unless thd big guy moved well, and hits he isn’t going to be a winner.

I've seen all of these kids play throughout high school many times.

Have a little bit more of an open mind, friend. Or, I really don't want to say this, but go frick yourself.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not against Morgan at first. If we are strong everywhere else and that’s where he has to be to keep his bat in the lineup, I’m for it.

At the end of the day, I kinda want an a-hole at 1B.

This may be the dumbest thing I have ever read regarding baseball. And I read the in-game threads. I mean, what in the ever loving frick?
