Arkansas is a good team. Beating Tennessee is no easy feat

They are a good team. But Green is inconsistent when he’s healthy. If he can’t move as well, Arkansas has a big problem. They can’t win with him if he can’t run. He’s just not a good enough of a passer to be just that. And Arkansas gives up the 4th most sacks in the SEC, so he’s going to take hits. I have my doubts that he takes every snap in this game, whether he gets banged up, or by design.

UT is a very good team, but the love got a little out of hand after their win over OU. I was guilty of that too. They looked just as vulnerable vs UF, a team that isn’t as good as Arkansas, last week at home. They don’t have the game breaker WR they’ve had the last two seasons and Heupel’s offense requires that. Their dependence on the run played to Arkansas’ strength. Nico has a ton of talent, but he’s still a redshirt freshman starting in the SEC.

Nuss being in a P5 for a few years, learning how to break down film and getting some playing time before being the starter- that’s not insignificant. He’s still had his struggles, but he’s also just a little older and more mature, and that has showed in moments where we’ve needed him to step up at the end of games. With Daniels back, I expect the passing offense to be on track from the jump Saturday. It’s about how many stops our defense can get, especially early to dampen the crowd and that early surge we saw from USCe.

Being that this game is basically a “pick ‘em”, if Arky wins, it’s not a colossal upset.

It's not basically a "pick em". LSU would be favored by 5 or so on a neutral field and 7 at home. However I do agree it wouldn't be a colossal upset.

I personally think LSU will win by 3-7 points, but I totally get why some are picking Arkansas. They are at home coming off a bye, LSU is traveling coming off of a emotional victory. LSU has trailed for the majority of games against against good competition. It totally sets up for a LSU loss.

This. Just make sure to disguise the pressure some and be ready for the screen passes we know will come.

like we did first half UCLA

The offense actually came out of the gate rolling vs UCLA. It was the defense that struggled badly in the first half. But since that second half, they’ve been dialed in pretty well.

We need another USA performance. That’s really the only game this season where both sides came out and played their best right from the start.

He had -6 rushing yards against Tennessee, but I generally agree. Can’t expect him to throw dimes like he did in that game consistently.

what in the LSU-Arkansas rivalry (particularly @Arkansas) would have them think this is an easy win?

That we’ve won 7 of the last 8.

Do you think they don't know how to look at the scores?

The last 4 games were decided by 3 points, one in overtime (the win by Arkansas in 21). Most of the guys on this team have never beaten Arkansas by more than 3 points. 7 of the last 10 have been either LSU won by 7 or fewer (4 times) or Arkansas won (3 times).

In the last 10 meetings in Arkansas, LSU's margin of victory has been double digits twice, 2016 & 2004. Less than a TD 4 times, 7 or fewer 6 times, and 8 or fewer 7 times.

So tell me again why you think they would think Arkansas is an easy win.

We were much better on defense during that stretch, and 2019 was the best team in CFB history. And this Arky team is breed than any of those. They’re pretty damn good this year. They have 2 really good coordinators who’ve had 2 weeks to plan for us. They’re more healthy than us save their QB, but who knows how hurt he really still is.
Oh yeah i understand all of this, but i also don't believe their QB is 100% ready. I do not expect him to last the full game if he tries to take off and run a lot.
quote:

And they’ve still only got 1 conference loss, think of us as a big rival, and we play in Fayetteville at night. It’s not Tiger Stadium, but it will be about as good and loud an environment as that stadium is capable of. We are gonna have to play really well to beat them. And our back 7 played almost the entire 80-ish snaps against Ole Miss. How tired and banged up are they?
Yeah they will definitely get up for this game, i just don't see it mattering as much this year. As far as our players, we just came off a bye and we did play a long game, but we haven't played a bunch of games in a row. Also, this is time for the recovery room to do its magic. People made jokes about it making players soft, lets just see.
quote:

As far as defending the pass, I’m pretty sure they played Tennessee kinda like Ole Miss played us. They rushed 3 and dropped 8. Nuss is gonna have to be a lot more accurate tomorrow than he was Saturday, and our WRs are gonna have to do a better job of getting open.
LSU is getting Daniels back, who knows how to get open, and they are getting Trey'Dez who is a matchup nightmare, and who Arkansas doesn’t know anything about. Like Kelly said, Nuss needed that type of game for growth. He's faced adversity every way you can. He played in a loss where he couldn't make an easy pass, on the road in a hostile envornment coming back down from 17-0, and at home vs a top team where he played horribly, but came in clutch when it mattered most..
quote:

But we’ve GOT to be able to run against a light box with our RBs. Don’t have to break off 70 yard TD runs, but have to get 5,6,7 yards consistently to stay ahead of the chains and prevent presnap penalties. And Nuss is gonna have to pick his spots and run for a few 1st downs when they’re giving them to him.
if they drop 8 like you say, i think coaches have told Nuss to take a couple easy runs. Will he do it? Who knows. I also think LSU will be able to run on them. They do not have a NFL DL and Durham is another week removed from that injury.
quote:

I’m not sure if you’re saying if we win, it will be a big time win as in nice win or you think we’ll beat them handily. Personally I’d take a 1 point win and get the frick out of there. But if we win 32-13 or something like that, that will make me feel really really good about how much better we’ve gotten and about the rest of the regular season. I think we win, but it will be close. Hopefully not Ole Miss close, but I think it will still be a game in the 4th quarter. Maybe we get a turnover and go up by 14 and put it away. But I expect a nail biter for most of the game. We’ll see. Should be exciting with so much on the line for both teams.

I don't think this game is ever in doubt. I think the closest they get to us all game is 7 points. People keep talking about us being worn down or whatever, coming off a high or whatever, i actually think we are now amped up. I think that win put it in the players heads that what they are learning and executing is actually working. You don't Arkansas comes out sluggish like we did vs Ole Miss? We had also gotten rest and it didn't matter. Arkansas is a good team, i just think LSU is a terrible matchup for them. Getting CJ Daniels back and having Trey'Dez Green on the field more will create a unit that nobody has seen this year from LSU.

Ark almost beat us with a 3rd string QB in '22 if not for Perkins.

Last year it took a miracle to beat them at home with a Heisman Winning QB.

This is their Sugar Bowl.

We better be ready.

It comes down to do you think LSU's D can hold Arky to 24 or less because LSU scoring 24 or more points in this game pretty easily. I actually think we put up 30+. Arky defense is better against the run than the pass and they haven't played a decent QB yet. Nuss will throw for 300+ and we get 3 or more sacks and win something like 31-20.

This year's Nuss is quite different from the ubergreen QB who in 2021 received his baptism by fire against these same Hogs-- his very first significant playing time as a Tiger

CBK has been pretty consistent in winning these mid level games so I’m confident the Tigers will prevail

Or...... maybe LSU is due to dominate this game from start to finish.
