These guy's are 19-20 year old kids. This kind of stuff happens. It's unfortunate that Davalan will bare that cross for along time. It wasn't just Davalan, it never really should have come to that. The double play that wasn't did Arkansas in.

No it doesn’t happen. Not at this stage and not with this caliber of player. There is zero reason to not attempt least attempt a double play.

o guarantee tha Milam would not have been safe. He runs well. Getting the lead runner kept the force intact on all bases.

You are not thinking about the situation in your post.

That runner going to 3rd meant absolutely nothing to Arkansas at that point in the game. Him scoring would still mean Arkansas wins the game. The runners going to 2nd and 1st absolutely meant something to Arkansas so there was never any reason to try and get the lead runner in that situation.

KVH took the blame for this play but I think he is just covering for his player which I respect.

In saying that if SS would have went to second for the double play and got only out at 2nd base the game would have ended the exact same way.

Also Aloys play should’ve never happened because that first baseman should’ve let the 2nd baseman take that routine grounder on Curiels hit.

Is this real? You can’t even see the 3rd baseman in this

If anyone saw the Arkansas presser after the game, they were absolutely devastated. Alloy was supposed to be there but didn't show

Sometimes you can’t tell real time.

My initial reaction (I’m sure most as well) was relief because that looked like a guaranteed bounce play ball.

The replay confirmed it though. It wasn’t really close.

I actually think the 3rd baseman might have caught Milam if he tried to go to first base.

How the hell Wehiwa Aloy, their best player, doesn't attempt that double play from Milam will never make sense to me....

I really feel like too much is being made of this hypothetical play. It’s not like it’s guaranteed, and if they don’t turn 2, they now have a man on 3rd to deal with. I can see why he took the more conservative out up 2 and you only need an out. It only doesn’t make sense because we know how it ended.

The play to left field was going to be tough to make, I don’t think it was counted as an error. The LF’s reaction obviously made this more dramatic

And was from a team with a .983 fielding percentage. Wow.

Both teams forgot how to play defense at times over the last 3 innings. Some routine plays were not made and most of them cost runs. And then the game for Arkansas.

It’s what makes baseball a special game. Lots of moving parts and Arkansas whiffed at the absolute worst time ( for them) I do feel for those boys. Someone had to lose. We fought back and never thought the game was over in our heads. Shoutout to Jay Johnson for proving he is not a one hit wonder.

I actually feel worse for the Arkansas SS. The LF had a challenging play to make and physically just couldn’t execute it at that moment. He probably makes that play 8/10 times and those 2 failures are what separates the pros from high level college players.

The Arky SS made a mental mistake. That will haunt him longer. At the end of the day we can all come to terms with our physical short comings. At the end of the day, some guys just have more of it than you physically. I find it harder to forgive my mental mistakes of the past.

In both cases, I hope they are celebrated by Arkansas for being great players in a great team.

I agree. The left fielder slipped initially and botched the play. It was more a physical error. Aloy needs to know that guy on 3rd is a meaningless run. He needs to try for 2. He should know where he is going prior to that ball being hit. That’s little league stuff.

I dont think its going to be discussed that much.

I think it comes up for the rest of this CWS, the Ark series for the next few years, and anytime we face them in Omaha. But will be an afterthought any other time of the year.

This was for a chance to play another game, it wasn't Ark's game to make it to championship weekend and was not during the final 3 game series.

Well… good teams need to be lucky too sometimes… baseball is full of stories of playable plays that were not made… ask Bill Buckner
