I’m excited because Kelly has always chosen good DCs.

This. I trust Kelly more than the previous two HCs.

F*** yes. In fact I think the defense will surprise people this year. Secondary worries me a little bit the guys we brought in seem to be absolute studs. But knowing how smart and well regarded MH is….. it gives me a lot of confidence.
We know the DL is talented as hell. We know our LBs are good. Secondary has holes but good safeties. Well now we have a DC that can put it all together. Ffs the guy had the number 6 defense in the country at KENTUCKY!!!!!! That alone is a shocking statistic.

He has a tough act to follow, with Orgeron selecting Pelini.

the good:
the bad:
and the secondary coach is really young. not saying they cannot or will not be successful, just saying that is has the potential for a weak position.

I'll be excited when we beat Fla State.

If I’m not mistaken his last 3 DC’s are currently head coaches at power 5 schools

The secondary coach is young. That’s for dang sure. Can’t be worse than Pelini though.

Hope with our DL Perkins turns into a monster hitting the gaps

Yeah if there’s one thing I’m not worried about with Kelly it’s our defense. We will always have good defenses and good TE play.

I’m looking forward to see what House does with the talent of Ojulari and Gaye.

We're still splitting secondary between dedicated Safeties (Kerry Cooks) and CBs (Steeples) coaches. Hopefully that helps with Steeples's inexperience, but a lot of people on here were down on the Cooks hire.
I'm cautiously optimistic.

Did someone post we have great LB's. hmmmmm Proven yet? I don't recall seeing but one good LB last year.

I think I remember TM7 saying that of the like 12 picks he had in Kansas City, House was directly responsible for like 9, putting him in the right position, giving him keys to look for he found at hint film. He loves him. Combine that with what he did at Kentucky and Kelly’s track record of hiring coaches, I’m pretty pumped.

Love this coaching staff Kelly has assembled I keep hearing about accountability and discipline HOLY shite we haven’t had that in a longggggg time. Can’t wait to watch these coaches work with the talent we get at LSU.

I am excited because this entire staff is accomplished and qualified to be here. Beyond that lets see how they perform.

Not yeah but hell yeah. His defenses at Kentucky when he was DC there were rock solid. With more experience in the NFL and a little better talent, I think we will be pleasantly surprised.
