In practice clips everyone except QBs seem to be what SirWinston dubbed the “cuck cap”
Is this mandatory now?
He should be unbanned so we can get his thoughts on the situation

You mean the cap that can prevent concussions and other injuries before we start the season?
Yeah let’s take the helmet off and use leather caps instead

Is there evidence for this?
If there is then why is it not mandatory everywhere?

Duh. Could it be to prevent head injuries, perhaps?

Is it mandated by the NCAA now?
It’s not widespread in the nfl preseason

I believe they can not wear them if they choose but why not protect yourself from unnecessary injury in camp??
I dont believe any LSU player has worn one in a game.

So it’s important to not get a head injury in practice but it’s ok to get one in a game?
If they work they work. Why would you risk a concussion in a game if it works?

Listen. I’m all for preventing head injuries. It’s just odd that we have 100% buy in overnight for this.
Usually something like that is accompanied with an announcement or mandate or some sort of change in the technology making it provably safer

I've read that certain helmets are rated high enough and don't need caps when worn at practice. I think it was in the NFL, however if this is true LSU should get those. Guardian caps look ridiculous and an overabundance of caution.

It does nothing to lessen the force on the brain that causes concussions. It was a good sales idea for equipment and they’re making bank off of it but that’s all it is.
You can check peer-reviewed field studies they say the same thing

You say this with a grain of salt. I bet if they went back to the leather helmet they would not have the problems they have now. The leather would teach them real fast to not lead with head.

Exactly. When you have a better ramming device you are going to use it. As helmets have gotten technologically advanced players use them. Sometimes as weapons.

What did that dummy get banned for anyway

Commonly used or mandated in practices And can be worn in games. Data says can reduce impact of head to head collisions (which are rare).

Not sure about college but in NFL Guardian Caps are mandated in practice for everyone except QBs, kickers and punters. Certain position groups are exempt if they wear a certain helmet ok’d by the league. Guardian caps in games are voluntary.

I think it was either trolling the Poli or Movie board about the Oddessy movie.
