Are players just going to opt out halfway through the season every time we go 9-3 or less?

Shoulda clarified. I meant if it looks like we're destined for a 9-3 or 8-4 season.

Last year we won 5 games. This year doesn't look any better despite two extra shots.
I don't fault players at all for not wanting to risk injury for this shitshow.

I agree with your last sentence, I just wonder, if players like Chase and probably Stingley continue to be drafted high, if the standards will raise.

NFL GMs and Coaches couldn't care less if a player is smart about the risks he takes in college.

What are they concerned with? Sufficient game tape, interview, and combine.

College football is a farce and when a player has gotten what he needs out of it, he moves on.

Noting can stop them, except competition and cultural change.

Yes. this is the future of college football. Get your stock up in your freshman or soph year, then if not competing for a playoff spot - see ya!

Why not, the fans do. They’re just taking after the goobers on here that if we don’t win 11+ games we suck and start shitting on the players and coaches.

When your main sales pitch to recruits is that you will get them to the NFL, they come in thinking of going to the NFL. So they end up opting out or quitting as a business decision. Pretty simple math if you ask me.

Doesn’t happen to teams with real coaches, it’s exclusive to Ed and his pathetic excuse for “coaching”.

Probably. the only answer is for the team to compete for some kind of title....SECW, SEC or Playoffs.
Anything less and many top players are going to protect their body from potential injury by just not playing. Chase set out an entire eligible year because he knew the team was not contending for anything. Marshall decided the same with a few game left last year. Football is quickly losing its charm.

If you recruit well enough, next man up.

Just to clarify, when you are 3-3 or 3-4 it doesn’t look like you’re gonna go 9-3
