Hey Broski, by chance did you see our ability to gash the middle?

Guess what opens that up?

We "gashed" them once.

So one big play makes 11 plays of minimal yardage ok?

Without Williams' 54 yard run, we averaged 2.3 ypc... weird definition of "gash".

You're right, tendencies don't matter in coaching.

I love your what ifs on the game too. Alabama can play the same game. If they had converted a couple of more third downs and if they had not taken a knee at the end of the game, they would have beaten us by four touchdowns instead of two.

But they couldn't because of LSU's ability to stop the run and effect 3rd conversion on passing downs. Saban was imploring his offense to finish off LSU late in the 4th (i.e. score again), but they couldn't.

The LSU defense wouldn't let them. That's a maturing defense that does their job until the end for the second year in a row, unlike the previous few years where it seemed that when "they" finally accepted they couldn't win it, they would give up that extra TD.

As a side note, I saw Saban try to play recruiting politics by running two straight plays to Devonta Smith and then put in Moses to make a play at the end. That wasn't just garbage time. It's not enough to just win, he has to try some type of way to rub it in. This is a rivalry because of what he specifically does in these games that he does not in other SEC contests.

I think we all understand that the expectations are to win most SEC games and to be competitive with Alabama on and off the field until Saban is gone.

If these are the expectations, we might as well have let Les finish out his contract and saved the buyout money.

Well when was the last time we rushed for 150 against bama. We actually looked better on the road and we lost because there qb was better.

People are not content about the loss but people are optimistic because this staff proved they have a path to beating Alabama. The QB couldn’t make the throws to beat them but a better QB an upper level QB like Brennan can make those plays. The past few years there was no path to beating Alabama and now there is that’s what people are encouraged about.

You’re right. It’s a very complacent fan base right now. They think our program is successful if we finish in the top 25 and a bowl game. Man how things have changed.

I agree - but I don't see this as new. Crapitol One Bowl and getting our asses handed to us. Projections this year: Music City Bowl

we know we are gonna have an OC who will adapt his play calling and not run the same ole offense that was ran with Les...

This years jet sweep is the equivalent to Miles toss dive. Watching Canada call it time after time last night and watching Bama react to it as the game went on, it was the same as watching Miles and Cameron run toss dives into stacked defensive lines in years past.

Perfect example of a simple-minded argument.

Rushing yards:

2017 - 151 (on 42 attempts, 41 lost on sacks)
2016 - 33
2015 - 54
2014 - 183 (on 56 attempts, 20 lost on sacks)
2013 - 43
2012 - 139 (on 48 attempts)
2011 - 39
2011 - 148 (on 43 attempts)

Clearly, we had our best rushing game against Alabama since 2011. That was in large part to our scheme which requires Alabama to cover the entire field and makes the linebackers and safties hold their ground to account for the sweep. The purpose of the sweep isn't necessarily to make big gains, it's to open up running lanes in the middle of the field.

According to space cowboy it will be somewhere between 15 to 20 seasons.

Is it? Going from losing to Troy to giving Alabama all they can handle and beating 3 SEC teams in a row.

Troy should've never happened. It doesn't make losing to Bama by two scores any more palatable, unless in your mind the expectations have been lowered.

So your argument is that if you discount the big play that the jet sweep sets up, then the jet sweep doesn't work.

Genius.

For two weeks straight the majority of the board said we are going in dry and ballin come 11/4

We lose by two TDs and it's like we just won the SB

I don't know what y'all expected, honestly. Coach O wasn't going to turn LSU into the 2001 Hurricanes in one season.

I expected to not have our poo pushed in by MSU or to lose at home to Troy. O wasn’t hired to rebuild. He was hired for continuity
and recruiting which thus far is underwhelming. Credit to O for turning things around after his boss had to call a meeting. Auburn was a nice win especially after being down 20. We should be favored in the last 3 and if we win whatever 2nd tier bowl we likely get 10-3 will have us ranked in the top 15. That’s not bad but basically what Miles was doing. So next year better show drastic improvement.
