Home field advantage there is not really home field advantage as we know it.

Here's my opinion - I don't think Texas will live up to their pre-season hype next year if they get ranked Top 10.
Not to say they'll be Miami bad from this year, but people don't understand this year they survived on their defense, and they are losing practically everyone off it (8 senior starters). Their offense, despite having some big time receivers and Ehlinger, managed about the same kind of offensive scoring as WE did on the season, to put it into perspective:
Beat Tulsa 28-21
Beat USC 37-14
Beat TCU 31-16
Beat KSU 19-14
Beat Baylor 23-17
Beat ISU 24-10
Beat Kansas 24-17
Beat UGA 28-21
Every single one of those wins has 1 thing in common, they held their opponent to 21 or less. That's 8 of their 10 wins. In the majority of those games, their offense only gave them a decent bit (mid-high 20s), not 35-45 points.
Texas is going to have to LIVE off their offense next year, and their defense will be VERY VERY young as a lot of backups this year were freshmen (they had 5 freshmen with double digit tackles this year). If they return both receivers, they could do that, but they will be figuring things out early on in the season for sure defensively.

Still don’t think the Big 12 could handle the week in week out physicality of the SEC
What does that have to do with the price of tea in China? It’s the 1st game of the year.

Also, Darrell Royal stadium is vastly overrated
How can it be “vastly” overrated when it’s barely rated at all. I don’t think I’ve heard anyone say it’s a tough place to play. That said, it’s not in Tiger Stadium or or a neutral field, so they will have the advantage there.
This is a huge game for Orgeron and the LSU program. Huge for recruiting, huge for continuing the momentum of this season into. Ext by beating a top 10 team on the road. But don’t think for one second that O doesn’t know Herman was offered the job 1st, and he will want to make a huge statement. Whether or not he uses that motivation correctly will be interesting. We’ll see.

Texas is a worthy opponent for anybody right now.
Worried - No
Excited for a fabulous early game and away/home matchups - Yes

Georgia didn't beat themselves
Texas pushed them around and did whatever they wanted on both sides of the ball
it was domination

Nah, them and Bama are two easy wins. I'm just afraid if we don't beat those top 5 teams on the road by at least two TDs we will drop out of playoff considerations.

YES! If UT plays like they did against Georgia it will be a GREAT game. I was very impressed by Texas in the trenches. They will be ranked pre-season top 10 for 2019 season with their QB returning and based on how they ended the season in bowl game. Will be a great out of conference match up. Looking forward to it. Working on tickets now. Great for college football. Geaux Tigers!

They will be better than what you saw in all aspects of the game. They are on the up and up and i believe will/should be a top ten preseason team...They will be dangerous

It won't be easy. I think we win, but I sure wish the game was in Baton Rouge.

Agree on offense. Not a chance on defense that early in the season. Youth alone will prevent that.

They will be good but go look at their message board and you’d think they just won the national championship instead of losing 4 games this year. They lose 8 starters off the defense which carried them but their qb is a gamer. While they are moving the right direction I don’t believe they “are back” quite yet.

I think LSU wins the game but going into Austin that early in the season will not be an easy walk.

Is judging Texas by who they lost to this year really wise? We did lose to Troy last year. I think it will be a really tough game.

Them beating Georgia is actually a gift because now their expectations are higher going into next year and that will get the Tigers attention, focus, and better prepared for the game....had they lost, I don't think there would have been as much focus..

Does any LSU fan think any game ever is going to be an easy one? They shouldn’t. LSU hasn’t thoroughly dominated even the most cupcake of all teams in a while.
Texas is going to be a nail-biting dogfight.

Easy there, big fella. We'll be at their place, and it will be early in the season.
Still, I do think we have more experience returning, and we'll win. I am not predicting any kind of blowout. If we win by 1, I'll take it and move on.
