He was bragging about being a cajun in his post, while above shows Alabama, so he was heading off any potential comments about his lack of cajunism.

College baseball as a whole is full of douchebaggery. The absurd celebrations for any and everything. The pitchers barking at batters after a SO. Batters shouting at the pitchers/fielders after a big hit...and on and on. It's one thing to be fired up after a 2 out game tying hit in the bottom of the 9th of a big game...or to slow walk a walk of HR (like what Curiel and Jones did in Game 1 vs. Tenn). It's another to talk shite to a pitcher after a solo HR in the top of the 2nd in a 1-1 game. Or to chirp at a batter after a SO for out 2 in the 3rd inning of a game.

That doesn't happen at higher levels (minor league and major league) nearly as often. The reason is the players are, essentially, given leeway to police themselves. Do something obnoxious and you know you or your teammate may soon see a fastball in the ribs, or you face a bench clearing "brawl".

I don't remember it being like this 15 years ago or so. Maybe even 10 years ago. You weren't incident free but it's like the game can't be played without pitchers dog cussing batters after SOs or vice versa.

According to the coach himself, that’s what happened. He also told the umps to go talk to the drunk Clemson fans harassing his guys in the bullpen.

I mean there is a fine line in what he is trying to accomplish but if it works for his team to assume the villain role in order to win games then he is doing what he is paid to do. However, that can backfire real quickly.

I think maturity has more to do with it, you are a professional, and more is expected of your behavior.

Good thing our team isn’t mentally weak like Clemson. Jawing vs a pathetic program is much different than jawing with the powerhouse.

I’m sure they don’t jaw more than the Vols or hawgs and we saw how that worked

He will probably be tossed in both game if he says something like that this weekend. Our crappy SEC umps don’t play that

To be fair, wasn’t it Clemson fans standing along the fence talking shite to the WVU pitcher as he warmed up in the bullpen?

Yes. Clemson started it. They (WV) didn’t just come out cocky. Ump didn’t say a thing about Clemson but told WVU to tone it down and Coach told him to screw off at that point.

Good luck tomorrow. Should be a fun series between two good teams.

There's a difference between rowdy fans jawing at opposing players and a coach and his players mouthing off to players and umpires. One is generally expected. The other is not.
