It's been posted quite a few times. I don't see it, but would love to see it happen obviously. I'm taking this season one game at a time because I don't see how anyone can get any kind of accurate read on what we're gonna see.

True

Both came in with a lot of offensive unknowns.

Spencer Ware had just rushed for 100 yards
Reuben Randle was a rising Junior

Both are relying on an elite defense

People have been posting this thread in one form or another several times a week. Basically it's because our defense should be good or at least better. The rest is projecting.

Eh, coaching is a strong word for what Orgeron does.

He's around when coaching takes place.

Both rely on an upperclass QB without a lot of game experience.

Lee didn’t have a lot of game experience?

Both are being pushed by two stud freshmen receivers that potentially could be great.

Jarvis had 4 catches in 2011.

A big distinguishing factor for me is special teams. To my knowledge we don’t have anything resembling a Brad Wing this year. I am eager to see our new kicker though.

Both coaches had epic runs from '05 to '07.

I was in college at LSU for the last 3 years of O’s time at Ole Miss. He was the butt of every joke among LSU fans then. I often think about what 2007 me would say if 2018 me told him Ed Orgeron would be LSU’s Head Coach 10 years from then. He’d probably just laugh

This year we have a better defense and QB

The defense lost to Troy. Just last year! LSU only lost to the #4 and #12 teams in '10

And Lee had led multiple come from behind wins, including the largest in LSU history (against Troy, ironically). And was eventually selected All-SEC by ESPN

Isn't optimism always highest at this time of year? I get it. I was like that up until about my 40th birthday. Now, I'm a more wait and see kind of person.

We made more than a few 'over-rated' lists in 2011.

2007 you would have 2018 you committed to a mental institution. But here we are, Orgeron is our coach and the entire idea has just been normalized somehow.

2011 offseason was 1000x more frantic than this. Y’all are freaking out because O waited to today to announce a decision Stevie wonder saw coming weeks ago. In 2011 we were trying to go a few hours without some fricked up shite occurring. Plus that team had expectations.

I think people forget how good that Oregon team was

They barely lost a national title to one of the greatest players ever and won a bcs bowl in 2011

This is a good Miami team but I just don't see them as comparable
