Anyone thought about the preseason similarities with this team and 2011 team

Some friends and I were talking about it a few days ago. It's pretty crazy.
-Both open in Jerry world against a top tier opponent.
-Both came in with a lot of offensive unknowns.
-Both are relying on an elite defense
-Both have endured suspensions to key players
-Both face a very challenging schedule
-Both rely on an upperclass QB without a lot of game experience.
-Both are being pushed by two stud freshmen receivers that potentially could be great.

I'm in no way saying we have a season like 2011, but the similarities are striking. Plus, I'm all for good juju.

Both have players with an E in their names.
Both coaches have coached before.
Both quarterbacks play in division 1.
Both teams are ranked in the top 25.
Both teams will start 11 on offense AND defense.

Book it. Similarities are impossible to ignore.

Agree on all except:

That’s just not true. Lee had plenty of game experience.

Yeah I’ve mentioned this several times.

The backfields are very similar as well.

Diverse talents but not much experience at all.

Ended up being a savage committee, and this one should too.

We're playing a ranked team in Dallas. The game is on ABC. That's about it

Get Coach O on the bat phone and tell him to run to the wrong sideline when they come out of the locker room.

If we have a better defense this year than we did in 2011, I’m gonna buy my tickets to the big show right now.

In the end, you will see little similarity between this team and 2011. We aren’t there yet.

Yep. Look, we’re approaching game day, and I am going to enter cheering mode because I want to enjoy this, but we have to remain somewhat grounded.

We have better linebackers, but we won't ever have another honey badger. This Miami team is not the same as the Oregon team that we played in 2011. I think they have better size and are equipped to play with an SEC team much more than the Oregon team was. If we get a bunch of turnovers it might be a blowout though.

I was going to post something similar last week but I figured I’d get blasted so just kept my mouth shut.

You get blasted no matter what you post here so dont worry about it. Some people just enjoy being miserable.
