I remember him very clearly, he'd sit up on the top row in the northeast corner of the stadium (which is now student seating)...

don't think he was married or had any family, he had a newspaper route for a living

I started going to the games in 1966 and I remember that booming voice very distinctly. In the days before the upper deck, he would be inside the stadium and we could hear him as we were walking to the stadium.

Yep he was much more noticeable and visible at basketball games. I still pattern my Tiger Bait chants after his to this day.

When I was a boy, working with my dad on weekends, we would listen to LSU games on the radio. There are some distinct memories, but John Ferguson and Big Red (I didn't know who he was until now) blasting, "Eat 'em up Tigahs, eat 'em up!" As well as, Here we go..."

I miss those days.

I’m pretty sure I even saw him at some basketball games.

He would be at baseball games before any big crowds ever started going to baseball games. It was the first time I was actually able to see him in the flesh, although I had heard him for years.

He would yell "Hutt, hutt, hutt, hutt...!!!!" when the opposing coach would walk out to the mound to talk to the pitcher.

I do. Amazing voice projection. There has been no one like him since.

For those that are saying he sounds annoying- he might have been if you were next to him, but from across the stadium or Assembly Center he was amazing. Loud, loud voice.

To this day, the dude's voice is still the definitive voice I hear in my head if I think of a lot of LSU cheers.

Definitely "Tiger bait, tiger bait, ..." and "Here we go Tigers, Here we go!"

I'm 48 and I recall this TS legend quite vividly. To this day, walking into or out of any stadium, that is my go to!

He was a student living in North Stadium in 61-62 when I was there. He got unbearable the week of the Ole Miss game. When he wasn't in his room yelling "Here we go Tigers" he made a tape recording of himself and played it out the window. Other residents got fed up with this, broke into his room, got the tape and unwound it in the hallway from east to west stadium. Then at night, he would ride around the stadium yelling his famous yell. Fellow students put a end to this by taking his bike and putting it up in the pipes of the fifth floor shower room. Those were the days.

so the legend of the yell was buried, and the legend of the PVC pipe was born!!!!! Amen to putting this to rest Mr. Landry!
