There’s no known correlation between pitch count and Tommy John surgery

Most trust CJJ, just worried about how it will affect the long season/post season. It's a legit thing to be concerned about considering the rise of TJ surgery
It was 1 game. No reason for concern unless you see him get stretched out that much every week which will likely not happen. His velo was only down 2-3 mph in that last inning and his breaking stuff was still pretty sharp. No need for concern.

I only got to catch the last few innings after he passed the 100 pitch mark. Every pitch he made after that was stress free, no trouble, and in complete command. I think that means more than the actual number of pitches.

Ben McDonald threw 18 CG in 2 years at LSU. I'm sure he pitched over 135 pitches several times during those games and ended up being just fine.

So we should play now using this pussy philosophy until later in the season? Grow a set of fkn balls. What if anybody gets hurt?? The kid was fkn dealing and got better as the game went on. He wanted the fkn ball. Tard takes/complaints

How young are you talking about? Do you mean kids that only throw off a mound when they pitch and never throw to condition their arm? Then yes, pitch count probably matters because their arms aren’t in shape.

I don't have any issue with Anderson's pitch count last night as long as his next few starts stay well below. If anyone thinks he will be this effective in June if every outing moving forward is over 125-135 pitches is delusional.

You can’t tell these idiots anything. They think there is a magic number. You lose velo and command as your arm stresses. He lost a couple mph but command was still there which means he wasn’t stressing or overusing his arm. He gets an extra day off this week and his pen day will be pushed back I’m sure.

I don't have any concern because I was being entertained. Kade was enjoying it, it made for a great viewing experience for anyone watching. All of these are the reasons the game was created. It was another great experience we all got to have during the regular season.
It's not going to hurt him down the road most likely so who cares

Well he threw 135 pitched and I thought the limit in college was 115. Did this change?

bullshite. A 2011 study found that youth pitchers throwing more than 100 pitches per week were at significantly higher risk for elbow and shoulder injuries that required TJ surgery.
I think what you mean is other factors like pitching mechanics, arm fatigue, year-round play without adequate rest, and even the type of pitches thrown can also influence the need for TJ surgery.

Doesn't that criteria capture just about every college starter between their starts and bullpen days?
