Are any of y'all the Athletic Director of Louisiana State University? No? then let that guy do his job and root for the kids running out on the field in the yellow hats.

Well, it's because he allegedly stabbed Les Miles in the back, and has continually lied to the fans at every single opportunity.

Joe Alleva should be fired out of a cannon across the nearest state border ASAP.

Alleva must be replaced first, so that is probably correct.

4 win season is basically impossible but if that happened and he is back there would be riots

i don't believe it

Second, LSU is not going to be in a position to have to replace an AD and a coach at the same time, which means the university has to use a search firm exclusively to make a HC hire that the new AD might not like.

It would be incredibly dumb to not allow the AD to hire the next coach. #1, it's going to limit the candidates would you can hire. They all want to know who the AD is going to be and whether they can work for them. #2, if you replace the AD later, that coach may not be the "AD's guy".

So, the question is whether LSU can hire a new AD and turn over control in time to replace a failed Orgeron. I can't see why that's an impossibility.

Having said that, it's waaaaaaay more important that we get a quality AD in here than it is to hire a new football coach. The worst thing that could happen is we jump to hire whoever we can find and then replace the AD later. That could put this program back a decade.

If O wins four games he is fired before Thanksgiving.

The amount of his payout would be peanuts compared to the damage done to the program if he is held over

Huh? He seems miserable, zero energy or levity in his press conferences, zero info on players. He is micromanaging things to keep his lack of ability out of the public eye

He won’t finish very strong imo if the season tanks. I don’t believe it will because this is a talented team and I believe Burrow is the missing piece we needed

You’re paying Les and Orgeron regardless. the only added cost to Firing O is the next head coach’s salary (roughly 6 million) and any assistants that are let go and have garaunteed contracts. Aranda is staying and none of the other guys make that much.

If O wins 4 games this year, LSU will lose many multiples of $6m in tickets, parking, conceasions, memorabilia etc, not to mention the impact on the city. Not coming up with 6m in that case would be a worse decision that hiring O.

The obvious answer in this hypothetical is promoting Aranda. Add 1.5-2 mil to his current salary and give him a couple years to see if he is the “Saban prototype” that so many think he is. Let him bring in or retain anyone he wants as coordinators and position coaches.

What a wise decision it was to give Coach O a 5 year contract with a huge buyout. Thanks Joe for putting LSU football in this position.

Barring some sort of criminal/ethical wrongdoing on his part, you really have to give any coach at least three years. You really do damage to your brand if you fire a coach after two years.

Alleva, however, should have been fired yesterday.

if the season goes poorly, the class could get poached

you also don't retain a shitty coach for one recruiting class, that would be stupid

You want to keep O almost regardless because he's putting together a monster class. Let him get those kids into the barn before firing him for onfield results. That's longterm health of the program right there. This class is vital and gives O a bit of security, if only for the year. The other big thing is that I wouldn't trust Alleva to make a hire. Before you can fire O, you have to fire Alleva. Because any scenario that involves Alleva making a coaching hire is one that I want no part of. His best hire in any sport was one he fell arse backwards into (Torina). Though I will give credit on the early returns for Wade.

You do t let him make the hire. He’s fired the day Orgeron is fired. Have your new AD ready, let him make the next football coach.

My point was. You are going to pay Alleva his buyout. Why pay an extra year of his buyout and a new ADs salary if you fully expect the next season to be a lame duck season with a coach who is only there for a year to save a recruiting class? I fully understand keeping O to save the class, but firing or keeping Alleva isn’t going to change that either way. But you end up spending more money by firing Alleva and hiring a new AD after this season than you would to keep Alleva and fire him when you are ready to fire Orgeron. What good does bringing in a new AD a year sooner if he isn’t going to make any changes that year?

First off, LSU is not in a position to pay Les, O and another coach (most boosters are unwilling to buy away Alexander’s problem here).

I suspect the amount of Miles buyout is the reason we hired a low budget HC.

no, we need to pay to have the best coach we can get. If they believe he is Aranda they should pay him like a coach leading LSU, a top 15 job. Period. No more attempts at being cheap

I Honestly think O will be our coach next season. I think he will coach out his contract and we will go from there. I also dont believe that it is the case for ANY scenario
