Any of you guys concerned about RB depth for 2021?

Going over the RB depth with Bradford gone, we only have 4 scholarship RBs correct? Leaving us:

Emery
Price
Goodwin
Kiner

2 of them obviously being true freshman.

Now as long as they're all healthy, we should be okay, but obviously, RB is a demanding position and one where we'll likely play a lot if not all of them this year. If one or two get hurt, I would be kind of concerned. Hoping for the best though. What do yall think?

Don't forget about Josh Williams. I think we're more than fine at RB as long as their used properly.

As long as each can contribute and play to their individual talents, they’ll be alright.

No. There are plenty of people paid very well to worry about that. I am not one of them.

I was trying to think of his name but had forgot it until you brought him up. Thanks. I do like the way he plays too.

I think Emery goes off this year too.

Josh williams is fine but if he is playing then something went horribly wrong.

Our depth chart in 2019 only had 4 on scholarship:

Edwards-Helaire
Curry
Emery
Davis-Price

That worked out pretty well.

Williams was definitively better than Bradford last year.

Someone walk me through Bradford leaving. Was he going to be 4th or 5th on the depth chart?

Nah... Our RB depth chart is much better than it was last season. You're basically replacing Curry & Bradford with Goodwin and Kiner. I cant speak for Kiner, but Goodwin is the real deal. Also it seems as if TDP has trimmed down and gotten quicker.

The question in the backfield is more about fit than depth as it stands now. Emory and Davis-Price are good backs but both of them have specific talents that limit play calling when either is on the field which can tip-off defenses. We should be focusing on getting backs who are more like CEH even if it means recruiting lesser ranked players overall.

We haven’t had a standout RB since 2019. Last year was a disaster at RB with only the occasional flash. The O-line had more to do with that than a deficit in RB talent. The talent level is plenty good. Blocking will be the key to whether these guys are running or limping.

They need to choose a bell cow back and have the others spell him: I haven’t seen any alpha dog in either TDP or Emery. Let’s hope Goodwin is that guy. We need someone to grab hold of the position (and stay healthy)

Goodwin is a true freshman and though it’s happened before it’s a bad bet to think he’ll come in and dominate the position especially early on. If he can get in on passing downs and do well to start the season maybe he can take the spot but he’s gonna have to block and make some early impact plays to do it.
