Kramer, Cole, Alex , Jared and Gregg all returned for their senior yr and made a decent amount for signing as a senior.

Alex?
And that’s just wrong. Kramer cost himself 100k by coming back

Coming back as a senior will get them into the top 10 without a doubt. But not for the reasons you think. They’ll use them as a way to save money to give to other players. If money is your #1 priority, then you have no choice but to leave as a junior

Exactly. Except the risk of getting less. He’ll get $125 this year. 10 or less next year. Not peanuts but not life changing either
Where are you seeing that he will be offered the max $125k ?

Alex and Greg were not seniors and only Deichmann was a draft eligible sophomore, you nitwit.

I never realized how many people didn't watch LSU baseball yet were so interested in the LSU's draft prospects.

It's another animal completely.

ETA: not nothing but definitely not more than $125

Ex:
Kramer turned down $250
Improved his stock, went all the way up to rd 4.
Signed for $150.
And I was shocked he got that much. Duplantis won’t get to the 4th

True, and I don't know how much higher Antoine's stock can go. Pretty shitty, actually. Kramer's slot $ was actually around $450k.

Slot was $450. He signed for $150. The reward for elevating his stock as a senior

What did Poche get? 40k? That’s prolly what Dup would be looking at.
Posted on 6/6/18 at 4:01 pm to Schmelly
Duplantis Is coming back. Don't worry

Some perspective of how this craziness works.
Last year the Phillies drafted a guy in the 39th rd, signed him for $250k
Braves drafted a guy in the 7th and he signed for $1000 (not a typo. One thousand)
Difference? 39 guy was a HSer, 7 guy was an accomplished college senior

And that was probably a best case scenario. It was pretty surprising that he got that much. However, maybe that extra year of college ball plus a run at a national title made it a good value proposition for Kramer. But for a lot of players that won't be the case. It just depends on where Dups' head is at.

Exactly. Coming back for senior year has zero to do with $ except for losing it. Unless you somehow go from undrafted to top 3, something crazy. It’s about the $ offered as jr not being enough to miss the experience and the degree.

No I understand the slotting and money pool. I just don’t think he would offered $125k or even close. If he stays and goes top 10 rounds next year it allows a team to draft him as a senior and save a ton in their top 10 pool.
Ex: they may offer him 50-75k this year and he could get close to that next year if a team is looking to save money for other top prospects and takes him early. Plus he gets to graduate and go to school with his brother for a year.

think Lester even said he was going to be a first or second round pick, but then again he's a fricking moron
I was about the only one on this board that said Hess Watson & Dup had a chance to come back
I thought Hess would go much earlier, yes. You won’t find any post of mine saying any of these guys were leaving for sure

I don’t know what % of the 125 juniors normally get. I just figured since they have leverage and teams would rather pay the peanuts then lose the pick. But either way, 50, 75, 125, I don’t think it would change my mind if I was Duplantis. He either wants to be an LSU senior or not. Money matters very little.
quote:he’ll get what they feel like giving him. Like I said, a 7th rder got 1k last year lol
could get close to that next year if a team is looking to save money for other top prospects and takes him earl
