I looked up stats with particular attention to free throws. I'll give Davis props for having a .892% free throw percentage. That's much better than Pete's .775%.

And holy crap Pete made more free throws (893) than Davis attempted in his career (715) by a good amount!

I mean you can only go with what they say. At first the kid said he wouldn't want to play in a lower tournament but people say all kinds of things when they think they have something in the bag. He obviously wasn't being honest when he made his first statement which is even more of a bad look but you can't blame someone for taking the kid at his word.

Kentucky was the conference champion. We came in second Pete’s senior season. Kentucky lost in the semis to Jacksonville State and Artis Gilmore, and didn’t make the final four but they were ranked first in the AP polls at one time or another. Jacksonville eventually list to a great John Wooden and UCLA. Losing to Ky was no shame. Scored @ Ky ... Ky 109-96 Pete scored 55 in BR... Ky 125 LSU 105 Pete scored 64, btw Issel had 51

True.
It was just a comment from red e SEC special on that era. I believe Dan Issell even made the comment about how they played Pete. I remember that time and game. But my most vivid memories are of the games where teams tried to guard him with multiple defenders, and he just scored at ease on them. That was true Pete.

a career record is a career record - deal with it

Like I've said before, it's not legitimate if the player is allowed to have 1.25 careers. Bad argument.

So Antoine:
- YOUUUUU finished 2 points short because you didn't make enough shots those last few games,
- YOOOOUR team finished 14-19 and was not offered an invitation to any post-season tournament, even brand new ones and publicity-stunt for-money ones,

But it's LSU's and Maravich's fault ???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Yes, most teams devoted everything to stopping Pete, but Kentucky was different. They had the athletes and talent to beat us no matter what. Pete scored and scored and scored, but no one guy can beat a top team by himself. Kentucky was a top team. Rupp himself was quoted, and I’m paraphrasing, Pete will get his but wd will stop the others.
And look at the points scored. Over 100 points with no three point shot or shot clock.
