we have to have a playoff system where conference champs get a bid to the playoffs. otherwise there is no point in scheduling tough out of conference games. it's just not going to happen.
agreed, and it will eventually go to an 8 team playoff with auto bids to the 5 Power5 champs, and 3 at large bids. That would reward conf champs, yet still allow other deserving teams to get in, and add only 1 more round to the playoffs.

There aren't bad football weekends to me. I'm just glad to be balling after 7 months with none.

Ditch the NCAA. Take the 35 or 40 top tier power teams and create a league set up with conferences and divisions like the NFL. Division winners and wildcards make the playoffs.

I am 60 years old. I remember when we would get one game a week on ABC, and about twice a year, we would get a double header. As many games that are televised now, I will find something from 11am-10:30 pm to keep me interested.

There is but one solution to this. There has to be a profound change in the way college teams are ranked. Teams have to be given incentives to play better teams. A close loss to a good team needs to count more than a win over a rent a win team. Teams who load their schedule with easy teams should be dinged in the polls for it, not rewarded.

Honestly, I don't really mind that the first few weeks of the season only have sporatic big games. It's kind of the buildup to the real season which is in conference games.

Just give me 2 or 3 quality games each week early in the season.

Bitching about it now when conference games are about to start seems out of place. Next week, will be 90% meaningful games.

that may eventually happen. I like the concept of an upper division, just the Power5 conferences. Maybe add a few Group of 5 teams to the Power 5 conferences to get to 14 teams each. That's 70 teams total. Playoffs are conf champs plus a few wildcards.

Group of 5 conferences can have their own playoffs, just like FCS, Div II, Div III do now.

I couldn't care less who else is playing each weekend. If LSU is playing, I'm happy.

If there aren't any other games worth watching, find something else to do to enjoy your Saturday.

The LSU Texas game has far and away been the best college game of the season.

I don't know if I would say far and away. I'm sure there have been other great games/finishes, but if we're just talking ranked games, the UGA/ND game was pretty good.

This is such a great point. I’m 53 and remember those days as well. Compared to that, we have it so good these days.

I agree overall. Week 3 and last week where pretty dreadful on paper. Sometimes bad weeks on paper turn out exciting but last week actual games were a dud. Best and maybe only good game of the day may have been A&M and Arkansas.

This week you do have that big showdown and at least the Big 10 has a few games that may be decent.

Speak for yourself...I'm pumped about Saturday.

LSU at 11. Followed by Auburn/UF. Followed by Astros playoff baseball. Sounds like a great day to me.

AU and Oregon game finish was exciting as hell, winning TD with less than 10 seconds left.

Expand the playoffs (six is my preference, as it'll "fit" all Power 5 conf. champs plus an eligible non-P5 team that's undefeated, like a UCF), and that'll help.

I am hoping (though certainly not expecting) to be entertained by a miracu-les outcome to the Kansas-Oklahoma game
