ESPN reporting that LSU confirmed she was not eligible. Listed the qualifications but did not say which one she did not meet. Among them was having at least a 2.0 GPA since enrolling at the current school and making progress towards a degree. Not saying that is why (i have to idea), but the GPA was the only objective standard. Not sure how LSU could confirm ineligibility under the other subjective standards????
I have a difficult time seeing Reese being able to play and making sub 2.0 GPA
Something isn't adding up

So, she wasn't left off intentionally. She is not qualified for that award because she makes poor grades.
I love ya, Angel, but please get your grades up so you can play next season.

I am not suggesting that is the case, just wondering how LSU could confirm ineligibility. However, with the NCAA basketball tournament ending in March well before the semester is over, there have been cases in men’s teams in the past where a player stopped attending classes and then dropped out of school after the tournament. The point being that a basketball player can finish their last season and post season while flunking out the same semester with no real consequences to their eligibility to play. Can’t happen in football and baseball as those post seasons are after the semester

Here is what I found in terms of eligibility.
Student-athletes must achieve 90 percent of the institution’s minimum overall grade-point average necessary to graduate (for example, 1.8) by the beginning of year two, 95 percent of the minimum GPA (1.9) by year three and 100 percent (2.0) by year four.

I don't watch women's basketball enough to know who should win the award, but I can't imagine that their are 15 players better than her

I get it, although she isn't eligible to even go pro after this season so wouldn't make much sense.
I sense we won't get the full answer

This makes sense. I didn't think it was the "shite talking" and I'm glad it wasn't.

If her GPA is sub-2.0, she’d be damn close to being academically ineligible.
I’m just guessing, but she is well-spoken and seems like a very intelligent young woman. I have a hard time believing her gpa is below 2.0.

Okay, I think the key is, “must have a 2.0 GPA since enrolling at their current school.”
Angel has had only one full semester at LSU, Fall 2022, and perhaps had a bad semester.
And as someone said, she is in no danger of the Spring semester making her ineligible, since it does not end until after the season is over.
But I hope this is not a trend and she gets her act together in the classroom. It would be a disaster if she’s academically ineligible next fall and/or spring.

There are other criteria but the rant seems to pick the low hanging fruit all the time! Maybe she doesn’t have the off the court requirements.

However, LSU confirmed to ESPN on Saturday that Reese is not eligible for the final 15, as she does not meet all the criteria for the Wooden Award.

Candidate Criteria
Candidates must be full-time students in an accredited NCAA college or university.
Consideration should be given to scholastic achievement and aspirations. All candidates must have a cumulative 2.00 grade point average since enrolling in their current university.
Candidates must exhibit strength of character, both on and off the court.
Candidates should be those who contribute to team effort.
Candidates must excel in both offense and defense.
Candidates should be considered on their performance over the course of the entire season (pre-conference, conference and tournament play).

All it takes is one bad class, especially since she has been here one semester. She will bounce back and every accolade she does not have this season, will be hers next year.
And I knew it had to be something because the rant using Mulkey’s political and social stance as a possible reason when Khayla Pointer was a finalist last year was purely dumb.
