re: And another one: Matt Rhule reportedly interested in Brady as his OC

I think Brady is too smart for that. Rhule has gotten way too full of himself. He may be a one and done. Don't think Brady will hitch his wagon to that "star".

It doesn’t matter if LSU has a deal in place. Coaches with deals in place quit all the time. When Saban left LSU he had a deal in place, as did Kiffin at Tennessee.

The average NFL OC makes $1 mil. LSU should be paying him 1.5x that minimum. There may be more prestige doing it in the NFL, but there isn't more money, and everybody associated with football knows his name after one season as a passing game coordinator at LSU, so LSU can pay him at least as well as the NFL and he gets noticed just as fast or faster here. There's no reason to jump to the NFL right now, unless he just wants to say he's an NFL coordinator.

These owners will look at these potential hires objectively as business decisions. The reason I mentioned Josh Daniels making $4 million a year in my other post is because if Rhule approaches Panther ownership with the proposal to hire Brady, then Rhule will take a look at the salary to lure Brady from LSU and what the maximum salary for an NFL offensive coordinators. That range appears to be 2.5 to 4 million. Maybe lower on the low end, 2 to 4 million. That's the range Rhule has to work with. He probably can convince Panther ownership of 2.5 million because it's on the low side of that range and looks like a good business decision.

I think the $1.5 number is going to be low. Brady will make AT LEAST $1.8 and will probably push $2 million with bonuses.
That's more than any NFL OC and almost half of all college head coaches.

Josh McDaniels makes $4 million a year.
ETA: but Josh is definitely an outlier and way above every other NFL OC.

He's going to be in the mix every year. We just need to accept it that most likely he won't be here too long.

I understand that. The point I'm trying to make is that, at least according to what we've been hearing, Brady wants to stay at LSU. If that's true, I hope that the administration isn't farting around until the last minute. I have confidence in Woodward and that he's being proactive as opposed to reactive, as Alleva likely would've been. If Brady decides to leave despite LSU doing all they can to keep him, then so be it.

Also - if you're Rhule with this amazing shot in the NFL do you hire a guy that was a passing game coordinator for one year and has never been an OC?
I'm not downplaying Brady but one year is a small sample size.

This is a good point.
NFL defenses know how and have the personnel to defend against LSU's offensive attack. They see it every weekend.
Brady's system works at LSU because he has a QB that can execute his system. Brady's system requires a QB (and WRs) that study, is prepared and can recognize defensive formations. Those traits are not prevalent in CFB. Usually CFB OC's send the play down and the offenses run them without many options. Brady's performance is also a product of the LSU offense execution. That may not necessarily translate to the NFL were the talent disparity is tiny.

Correct. Whatever marginal difference there is in the "deepest of pockets" amongst the 32 billionaires is not something that will be a factor either way.

Win the Natty . Get a couple more years experience. Rhule is kinda weird and like it’s been said I don’t think his college stuff will translate to NFL athletes. If Nick couldn’t do it .

Brady is the big name right now, how much he truly knows remains to be seen but this deal appears to be picking up a lot of steam and may very well happen. Rhule is a pretty damn good coach imo. If Brady were to leave, there are others available my question would be the timing of this and does it effect the team preparation heading into the CG.

with the way the league is trending, they are more willing to take risks on coaching hires, especially on offense.
Look, the league has already seen what a brady-type offense can do...and that's in New Orleans.
Imagine what the panthers are thinking...get more utilization out of McCaffrey ala Kamara now? that's a fricking wet dream.
Like I said, finish this off right and win the damn thing on Monday, then make your move, Brady.

First time following the coaching carousal? Deals don't mean a darn thing when the NFL comes calling.

All due respect to Brady, he probably needs some time as a bonafide OC in college before he becomes an OC in the pros and have to put up with people like Cam Newton

If Brady gets us a NC this year honestly I won't be mad if he goes I want him to be as successful as he can. He laid the groundwork for what needs to be done

come on man. FFS this is getting ridiculous. has everyone with an opening thrown their hat in the ring this offseason?
best part about all of this is when opposing fans eventually don't get brady they just say all of his success has been because of burrow.
