Taking less money?

Taking less money?

TAKING LESS MONEY??!???!

The dude was working the radio a couple years before we hired him and he couldn’t even get an interview at syracuse for HC. He should be paying LSU to coach this team.

Some of the staffers are already drawing a pension/retirement from previous employment. These analysts jobs are a nice source of extra income for them.

I think people may have unrealistic expectations from what analysts provide.

Saban had elite results before the analysts. I imagine he's just wanted a way to outsource some of his workload now that he's getting up there in age.

Bingo.

And if anyone had the balls to answer that question, we might have a discussion, but alas, they'll say "This is a great thing!" and "This will win us 11 games, no question," without understanding that someone still needs to pull the information together.

Saban using it to lighten his workload is spot on.

So they have little incentive to perform at a high level?

But, you won't hear any appreciation from our fans

I'm all on board. Settling for nothing less than 10 wins. I think we can all agree anything less is a failure.

Obviously O looked over at Bama and thought, “Hey! Dey got dem a buncha analys’! I gone git buncha analys’ too, me! Gone ‘ship, baw!” Monkey see, monkey do. Does O know how to hire a team of analysts? Does he know how to direct them? Does he know how to implement the analysis he gets from them? Guess we’ll find out. This will be one less excuse for losing to Bama, or not surpassing his predecessor.

So sad and true. Man we are in a bad place

Are you really that dense? You believe what was typed?

Eaux has the support staff because of what he witnessed when he was with the Saints. The coaches were being given information packets on the next opponent before they left the facilities on Sunday after the games.

He said there were times when LSU's staff was still gathering information for Saturday's opponent on Wednesday.

The support staff will do advance scouting of opponents and have information in the coaches hand right after the current games. They will have time to analyze trends - including strengths, weaknesses and situational play calls.

They can also look at other teams. Say a team is leading the nation in turnovers, 1st downs, defense, etc, they now have personnel to study what those teams are doing.

Donovan Jackson:
"Over the last two years, Jackson has served as an offensive line intern in the NFL with the New York Jets and most recently with the Los Angeles Chargers, working under new LSU offensive line coach James Cregg."

Kevin Coyle:
"Former Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator. Coyle spent the past two seasons as the defensive backs coach of the Cincinnati Bengals.

In 2016, Cincinnati finished just one interception short of the NFL lead with 17, and defensive backs accounted for 13 of those picks. Coyle had spent the previous 17 years in the NFL. Before that, he was a defensive coordinator at Fresno State, Maryland, Syracuse and Holy Cross."

And then there is this small benefit of having support staff:

quote:

LSU defensive coordinator Dave Aranda and lead defensive analyst Ronnie Wheat are spearheading the Tigers’ effort with the top-40 junior prospect.

Mississippi’s No. 1 prospect loves LSU, has them in his top 2

Another:
""I sent a message to coach [Ronnie] Wheat (defensive analyst) on Twitter to let him know who I was and that I was interested in them about a week and a half ago," said Young. "They weren't aware of me until then, but after that message, they showed interest and coach [Dennis] Johnson (defensive line) came by the school and offered me today.""

And:
"Aranda said. “It’s becoming a complete player. To their credit, they’ve been all-in. Myself and (defensive analyst) Ronnie Wheat, who works with me, we’ll talk about how"

Only full-blown idiots would think this is a bad idea or cannot be helpful to the LSU program. So quite a few people on this board, but in the real world people know this is a great asset to have.

This is actually good job by O. Stockpile every coach you can get you hands on. I would like to see some more notable names on this list eventually, but a good start.

All fair questions.

I'd like to hear a reporter ask Orgeron why he hired analysts. I don't think he really knows except for this is what's popular to do so he has to do it as well. It's just like when he got the job and said "these days you have to run the spread" or something to that effect. He just follows the crowd. He has no ideas of his own.

Knowing what I know about O, I think he has little utility for data obtained through advanced analytics. That's not how he coaches. It's as if he (and a lot of coaches to be fair) is attempting to reverse engineer Saban's process, except he doesn't really know how Saban applies that information to a gameplan, which is the most important aspect of having analysts.

How much are other teams paying their analysts? It is meaningless to say LSU is able to do this because O is taking less salary when other teams paying actually qualified head coaches more pay these same salaries if not more most likely at other schools.

I love how people try to return anything into a positive for a bad hire.
