Thanks for pulling together. Very interesting to look at!

If I had a magic stat machine I would want to see the comparison between the year prior, too. (i.e., did both coaches improve the team from the season before in areas or get worse in some places?)

Shitty comparison. I was as down on mainieri as anyone but this tells us nothing. 2 completely different situations

Yeah, Johnson inherited a worse pitching staff from a starters perspective.

The ONKY think that was better was fielding percentage.

You did a lot of Work on this thread. Which I appreciate. But comparing stats between teams 16 years apart is futile.
JJ made them better, but didn’t advance as far as previous year.
CPM first team was worse than previous year, but neither made the ncaa tournament.

It’s a stupid take to compare coaches first seasons when they inherited different teams

It’s not an apples to apples comparison. It’s a fruit to vegetables comparison

But kudos to you for actually bringing stats

Because they were all freshmen (besides Louis) on his 1st team, not established players like the ones Johnson had this year. Of course his team was better.

Ryan Byrd, Nolan Cain, and Paul Bertuccini were better than most of the pitchers we had this year

Seems like a waste of effort. Anyone with a brain knows Paul inherited alot less than Johnson.
