The computers already have LSU 2 and Auburn 3. LSU is #1 in 2 computers already. If we win out, we will be #1 in the computers and the human vote will tighten up. We may not move up into the top 2 in the human polls but the points will be so close that the computer will overcome the difference. Right now we are way behind in the points of the human polls. We are a distant #6 from a points standpoint so our strong computer ranking can't make up the difference.

Uhh the knock on AU in 2004 was their schedule OOC.
Going to be hard to argue that again with Boise St and TCU getting love. LSU's OOC schedule is against the likely Big East winner and an ACC contender.
AU beat clemson and thats about it OOC but the SEC has a lot more ranked teams and would have to knock off Bama to stay undefeated.
SEC resume will trump all other teams this year.

There is NO WAY an undefeated SEC Champ doesn't get in the title game.

I disagree....
Undefeated in SEC gets in
Undefeated in SEC gets in

Undefeated SEC = Automatic Title Game Bid (unwritten BCS rule since 2006)
One-loss SEC = Probable Title Game Bid (unless Big 12 AND Big 10 have undefeated champs)
Non-AQ teams = Ineligible For Title Game (unless at least 2 of the 3 SEC, Big 10 and Big 12 champs have 2 losses)
Just the cold, hard reality.
Sorry Boise, TCU and Utah. You need to do more to reach elite status.

An undefeated sec team is guaranteed because we have proven the strength of our conf. by winning the last 4 ncgs in a row. We are the defending conf. champ until someones dethrones the sec.

SOS has a lot to do with it. Auburn's 2004 schedule didn't have a lot of highly ranked teams in it by season's end. They got dinged in part because of the OOC schedule. LSU has played West Virginia, who may well win the Big East and UNC which has been showing improvement. Auburn didn't play a BCS OOC opponent in 2004. Had they played and beaten a decent OOC opponent, they might have been in the 2004 NC game.
LSU could still miss out even if unbeaten if both OU and UO go unbeaten, but LSU has a much better chance than 2004 Auburn because of the OOC schedule and the rankings of the teams they would have beaten.

I'm surprised that no one has brought up the advantage that the SEC has over the PAC-10....the 13th game....it will make a difference not only with the computers, but with the humans

We need to delete this thread. LSU shouldn't even be in the discussion yet. We have way too much to prove.

Auburn 2004 is one of several reasons that an undefeated SEC team will never be left out again

Not yet. People need to remember Auburn 2004.
Disagree. That was prior to The SEC winning 4 consecutive national titles and both LSU and Florida vaulting up the polls to gain the title game. Besides that, Brad Edwards who, ulike us, is a paid expert on the BCS system says that either Auburn or LSU would be guaranteed a spot in the title game if they won out. I don't think either of them will but that doesn't change the fact that the SEC has now set multiple precedents establishing the sway held by the SEC. Coupled with the fact that most voters realized they had over-ranked OU and under-ranked AU by season's end.

I agree that it is ridiculous to even consider an unbeaten SEC team not getting in NC game. I feel that even a 1 loss team would get in over TCU and Boise due to computer rankings....this is assuming there is not more than one unbeaten big conference schools. SEC is weak....have they looked at the latest rankings and seen that 5 of the 6 SEC west teams are in this weeks top 25 and 3 of the initial BCS top 8 are in the SEC West....while we may not have the one dominant team..top to bottom in the West is stronger than ever. East is down a touch but still no cakewalk.

SEC undefeated is a LOCK...possibly even a 1 loss goes above Boise St and TCU.

Another factor working against AU was that the SEC overall was the weakest it's been in the last 15-20 years. The conference as a whole didn't sched many quality OOC opponents and lost to those that we did. The best record of an OOC team that was beaten was something like 8-5. We lost a bunch of OOC games too and our bowl record was nothing to sneeze at either.
I think the conference has learned that incest is not sufficient. If you're the best, it should show up in the OOC record like it did in 2007. Given that they could only take two in 04, AU didn't deserve to go because of their piss poor OOC scheduling and the SEC's overall mediocre performance. An undefeated SEC team will be okay this year regardless of the competition.

Not to mention that in '04 Auburn's "best win" was the official-aided game in Sept. over LSU. By season's end all the talking heads were singing about their relatively weak ooc as you said.
