At some point this season he would have been the starter, without a doubt. Not that Max has done bad, but he offers some things Max doesn't.

Smart move by Brennan, IMO. He can go to a school with crappy QB and take over immediately. Watch him kick our arse at Bama next year

Bama's got their guy already. But watch him kick our arse at a MS school next year... Maybe even UF

I think entering the portal is all about options. Since he does not know who the new coach will be, he gets to investigate possible landing spots. If the new hire impresses him or fits, he can always leave the portal and remain at LSU

yup. he's just getting out in front of the situation.

Yeah you are. He has been screwed here. Should have at least been an alternating QB with his first two years. His 3rd. year he couldn't hardly get in a game because we were trying to get Joe the Heisman and so even in blowouts he got little time. He played great before his injury but then all we heard was that Max was going to beat him out when he came back. Seeing how awful the OL was, not knowing what kind of offense the new coaches would run and still hearing how Max was better than him despite his terrible play this year, why would you expect him to do anything but transfer when he only has one year left?

While it has been a result of bad luck the last two years (injury) the guy has started THREE games at LSU in 5 seasons. Thus, depending upon what LSU decides to do with Nussmeier the rest of this season, it is possible he could enter next season with the least amount of actual significant game experience of the 3 returning QBs. Plus, he would be starting from scratch in terms of the QB race. His 5 years would not mean much to a new HC because the evaluation would be at an even starting point for all guys.

He has probably decided that with only 2 years of eligibility remaining he'd rather go to a place that knows they NEED a transfer to come in and be their starter vs. beginning at square one in a QB battle at LSU. With only three games of starting experience at LSU there is no guarantee he would be the starter next season if he stayed. Transferring allows him to choose a school that can tell him they want him to come in and immediately be their starter.

I'm asking, how is this possible?

2019 Redshirt Sophomore
2020 Redshirt Junior (doesn't count against eligibility due to Covid)

What has he shown you that makes you believe he has any shot to win the job next year?

Brennan is transferring because he knows he isnt the best QB on the roster. If he had confidence and an alpha type personality he would stay and compete. Hot sure why some cant understand he is not an SEC caliber QB.

The big plus for Max was that he was mobile and got rid of the ball. This season he hasn’t run, has held the ball, and his lack of serious arm strength has been an issue. Myles gets rid of it quick and has plus arm strength.

Myles is transferring for one year where he can start day one put together some good film and go to the draft. He would probably get drafted late rounds now based on arm strength alone.

Redshirt, Covid redshirt, injury redshirt, plus 4 years of eligibility is 7 total years.

That’s a good point. Hasn’t considered that he might stay.

Say what you want, but the kid was well on his way to having a good statistical season last year prior to injury. The fact that we were 1-2 took the focus away from how well he played behind that dumpster fire of an O line.

10 TDs and averaging like 300+ ypg last year in 3 games?

New coach coming who may bring his qb or have a guy in mind. Brennan is guaranteed nothing. I don't blame him

Us losing Brennan to injury this year was huge, and sucks. I think we have 1-2 more wins with him.

Because I don't think he was going to beat out Max this fall,

Max has been good at times, inconsistent at others. Certainly not head and shoulders above Brennan last year. And Nuss couldn't beat out Max. With Brennan as our starter we beat UCLA and Auburn. With that momentum carrying us we may beat Kentucky and Ole Miss. At any rate, with two more wins the season looks completely different.

It's way more to do with Program uncertainty, IMO
