I look forward to an efficient offense Saturday regardless of the QB.

I agree there is no choice considering his job is on the line.

Just so I'm clear.
I'm not necessarily stating that the best decision is to start Etling.
If he's looking OK during practice and we continue to struggle with Harris (or Harris continues to show poor character), and you WANT to start him.
You've got to do it in this game or Missouri. You don't do it at Auburn or throw him into a fire at Florida.

Can someone tell etling to get him a big sleeved Jersey?

That'll complete the ascension

I think I did misunderstand you. I don't think there is any other choice but to start DE. BH has shown us enough. All he really has is a strong arm. And lets be real...when was the last time a dual threat quarterback succeeded in this type of offense? Look at our successful years on offense...no REAL dual threat QBs. Miles' system is not built for it, bottom line.

He probably is the best choice going forward. I'm glad I don't have to make that call though. 6/14 doesn't exactly inspire confidence but it was his first game, and the offense did at least look to have more pop behind him.
I thought the same thing about Harris when he replaced Jennings during NMST in 2014 too though.

Etling has been with the program for a year. He's a junior. He's been to Bryant Denny in a battle of unbeatens. He at least knows what to expect.

Or that he's actually started multiple games in a power conf. (Big 10). I don't think (hope) anyone is thinking he's a Heisman trophy contender after one good quarter. Obviously he didn't set the world on fire at Purdue. Otherwise he would have never left. Still, he provided a needed spark to a sputtering LSU offense. I think he at least deserves a shot to see if he can repeat or build on that performance. And if nothing else, Les can't let Harris run on the the field and be booed mercilessly before he takes the first snap of the game.

Etling is really the only choice for at least the MSU game.

I totally agree with this. Ive been telling people at work that this is very reminiscent of 2014 when BH replaced AJ. I fell for it. I thought we had a Heisman contender on our hands. Unfortunately, that thought lasted for only 1 week. I think we all have to see how DE plays against MSU and, more importantly, on the road, in a hostile environment, at Auburn. A lot has not been seen. But, I believe we have seen enough of BH to know he is not the answer.

I think we tend to forget that Etling has started 12 games before. I know it was "only" Purdue, but he does have some experience on the road.

So true. Jennings looked pretty good when replacing Mett in 2013 (Arkansas) and then completely fell off.
Harris looked great replacing Jennings against State and NMST.
Etling looked unstoppable for a quarter replacing Harris.

No need to curse him as the starter. Keep starting Harris and replace him with Etling after the first couple possessions.

He misspoke. Miles meant to say he wanted a false start from Etling. That way he can justify putting Harris back in.

Harris kinda met the cat out of the bag. So much for keeping the opponent guessing.

Can anyone explain this Elmerism that CLM just enunciated?

We've run 12 plays for 14 yards and had the ball for 4:21 of the 30 possible minutes in the 1st quarter thus far. The offense has been shite and the defense cannot get off the field either.

If Les/Cam hadn't have pulled the trigger when he did, that game could have been a real disaster. The Jax St QB was running the shite out of the zone read and the defense would have been gassed by the mid 2nd quarter. Thank god that 2nd quarter broke it open. Those two terrible 3 & outs in the first quarter might have saved the season. At least it changed something.

I want a fast start from Miles literally every game... yet we see the same run w/ 11 in the box shite that we see every week for the last 4-7 years. Miles setting up to pull Etling.
