There is some contingency with top 50 pitching prospects being offered free MRIs before the draft. I don't remember all of it, but I think that's coming into play with this. I know his issue was medical as well.

The deadline has passed john Hamon is covering the story and says Lange hasn't ruled out returning to LSU.

Word on radio is now that Lange deal maybe done just not official yet. If the cubs don't sign him they receive a compensatory pick next season.

Unless Cubs made whatever minimum offer they needed to make to retain right for a compensatory pick following year for a player walking away from an offer.

Ok didn't know that radio says they would receive a compensatory pick for that slot next year. I don't know the rule just listening to radio right now and passing along updates. Two different reporters are reporting different things per bumper to bumper sports.
