Tua’s health should not affect their ranking. They lost two games. Are you going to emphasize LSU’s ranking next year IF all those departing juniors WOULD have stayed? Injuries and suspensions are part of the game. You play with the best 11 you have on each side of the ball.

Sure

But Alabama without Tua is probably still better than OU IMO

I think they’re the best 2-loss team.

Who cares where they would have been ranked without coulda, shoulda, woulda? That's what their fans do. Every possible excuse is on their plate, and they use them all...and them some. Bama was ranked where they deserved for the last two years.

I very much like the idea of them being ranked #4 to end the season, because that makes not making the 4-team playoff harder for them to swallow...

I said DURING the game that Bama would have whipped Oklahoma with Jones at QB

So, your spot looks about right

I'd give them an easy 10 point spread with Jones

Auburn may have matched up with LSU best in terms of their strength causing LSU problems; however, Auburn can’t be #2 if they stumbled 4 times as that shows they have significant weaknesses. Auburn’s DLine was by far the best LSU faced all year. Their offense was Meh.

They fricked the playoffs up real bad. It's really obvious that LSU, Clemson, Ohio State, and Alabama were supposed to be the four teams in there at the end. Alabama was the only team with the talent and scheme to hang with the three unbeatens. But they went and lost two games so they couldn't be invited.

...

All that said, how I would rank them based on what they accomplished:

1. LSU (15-0)
2. Clemson (14-1)
3. Ohio State (13-1)
4. Georgia (12-2)
5. Alabama (11-2)
6. Florida (11-2)
7. Oklahoma (12-2)
8. Minnesota (11-2)
9. Penn State (11-2)
10. Oregon (12-2)

I'd put them in the top 5, for sure.

With a healthy Tua they're 2-3. I think had they played, they stomp Oklahoma, beat Clemson, and Ohio State would be a tossup.

I didn't want a rematch. I think we still win, but it definitely wouldn't be a given.
I think we beat Clemson worse if we do a rematch.

If Jalen Hurts stays at Bama, Bama no doubt would have won at Auburn...Bama then gets the 4 seed in playoffs. A rematch in Atlanta.

2. Ohio State
3. Bama/Clemson
4. Bama/Clemson

Bama had a much better offense, but Clemson had a much better defense. An interesting point is that I think Bama had as much defensive talent as Clemson. Clemson has better defensive coaching. I really am starting to believe that Saban is being passed up.

You are outdoing yourself in stupidity.

No, the closest game does not suggest they are the second best team, because - and this should have been figured out by you - every team has a “closest game” with a different team, but there is only one second best team. Example: Ohio State’s closest game was to Clemson, while ours was to Auburn. Are they both the second best team?

We slaughter Bama in a rematch.
