Moffett played in the Northwoods League last summer, not the Cape Cod League.

I’d say Hellmers & Herring improved. Little did well at the end of the year.

Herring improved from 5.19 to 1.14
Helmers improved from 16.18 to 13.50
Little improved from 13.21 to 6.61

Dutton 8.10 to 8.22
Ack 9.00 to 5.18
Guidry declined 5.40 to 6.00 but increased in saves and appearances (9-10)
Coleman 7.36 to 9.95
Holomon st Bama 4.64 SEC ERA, LSU 3.93

Using Hurd as an example is disingenuous.

Dude just says he got better. He definitely did not improve any

But wait, people were really satisfied with the pitching this year?

The staff as a whole did not show very much improvement

We couldn’t avoid getting run ruled early in the SEC season. By the end we were holding NC to 3 runs through nine innings in game five of a four day weekend.

Jump came on, Little did too. I don’t know how, but Helmers held the rope for 5.2.

I think his point is that he doesn’t count going from extremely bad to pretty bad as improving

That is an interesting way to mark improvement.

I'm not saying that I fully agree with Lester, but I think much of that improvement had to do with the management of the staff. In the run rule games against Miss St & Florida, we started Thatcher Hurd. In the run rule game against Vanderbilt, we started Javen Coleman. Those types of things weren't happening at the back end of the season.

Not 100% satisfied with the pitching, but our offensive woes were a much bigger part of our problem than the pitching.

Understood

But how can you say Ack didn’t improve?
Herring made huge strides. Holomon improved. Little improved.

But how many got worse? I read that most of our pitchers did, but stats say otherwise.

Guess I’ll have to find the quotes from the preseason of Johnson saying this staff could pitch them to Omaha. It was supposed to be their meal ticket and was a huge letdown

No doubt, things didn’t measure up. Expectations were through the roof and the coach led the charge.

But seriously, I don’t put a whole lot of stock in that kind of stuff and I’d bet that you don’t either.

You can make a very good argument that this years staff was better than last year, and we had a generational pitcher with a guy who was supposed to be the best pitching coach in all of baseball. It’s a trend that our pitching sucks for 80% of the year then figures things out.

I’m not sure if Yeskie is the answer or not, but everyone is ready to get rid of every pitching coach we’ve had in the last 3 seasons, yet they keep getting HC jobs. Maybe some continuity would do the pitchers some good.

I do when there is stuff involved, cause i am a stuff guy. There is too much loud stuff on that staff to perform the way they did.

So you think we should look for another pitching coach?
