That team is not making the natty. They have zero team speed on offense

They returned 80% on offense and 74% on defense. They have Dani Swinney, Garrett Riley (OC) & Tom Allen as defensive coordinator. They were pretty good last year and were poised to take a step forward this year. Have, according to media, NFL talent across the front 7. CK was a Heisman favorite & WRs were on watch lists for post season awards.

Clemson is a good team. They just didn’t improve as much as LSU this offseason. We were coached better, had better athletes, and had better effort across the board.

Clemson will likely be 9-3/10-2 by year’s end.

That’s just not true. They showed a stat yesterday that he had 13 TD and 0 int against the blitz last year. Baker threw a lot of different looks at him and had him confused all night. They’re a good team and would have put up 30+ on last years defense.

Definitely overrated I don’t think they are anywhere near top 5. Solid team though and really good road win week 1

Those stats didn’t help him last night did they? Being blitzed and being pressured are two different things.

They will run the table; that is a good football team.

Maybe it’s wishful thinking, I thought they had talent across the board with an elite front 7. Their two outside corners were really good. Give lsu credit. I do think Antonio Williams going down helped us - But I don’t think the outcome would have been much different. They prolly improve once the freshman running back gets going

Are we sure about this? Last year Clemson beat three teams that didn’t have a losing record the whole year and only one of those had more than seven wins.

They returned a lot but just because you return a lot from a mediocre team does not mean you’re automatically going to get better.

Im a Clemson fan and that would be my take! Better than last year but not elite! Great game by LSU

Eh, doubt he had faced an unrelenting D upfront like he faced last night with a D backfield owning the field, see how his stats end up this season before you say he is crap.

There were alot of posts questioning their ranking here. And there were alot of posts that detailed why that ranking should have been questioned.

There were also alot of folks saying "show me" on our defense.

Our D did show and while Clemson is good they were overhyped and many posts here detailed the facts there - ACC, 4 losses, defensive ranking, etc. etc. but the narrative still scared everyone. We were better and it was on full display last night.

They are really good. They will probably finish 11-1 or 10-2 and be in the ACC CG and make the playoffs.

Stats don’t matter, he was bad when even slightly pressured. That doesn’t take away from our ability to pressure him, not sure why this is being conflated in a defensive way. When I say he’s overrated I don’t mean he sucks, I mean he isn’t a top QB nationally which is how he’s rated.

Nah, their defensive front is one of the best if not the best in the country. Their qb is good he just went up against a rising defense.

I’m a tiny bit worried that…while I’m happy we beat them on the road and I liked what I saw out of the defense…maybe they’re just a meh team like last year and their preseason ranking was based on hype.

What do y’all think

Clemson has 16 returning starters...

Most experts say they have about 4 first round draft picks, they have a 2 time national champ coach who smacked Alabama in thier prime

so I think they're pretty good...

we might be very good

Clemson had the most returning talent of any team. It’s very hard to win a game 1 on the road against a veteran team.

Especially when you consider we are breaking in a new o line.

Basically a 3 game schedule for them here out. Looks like FSU and SMU at home and USC on road.

Should be 10-2 and playoff team.

In SEC would just depend on their draw.

May not be the toughest opponent talent we will face (though they are upper tier) but the circumstances-game 1 on road loud stadium lots of transfers without time to gel makes me feel good.

No question.

and the FSU team we lost to in 22.

Debatable.

We will only play a couple more defenses this year that are as good or better as Clemson.

I'll agree here. They may be the best D-line we face but overall we may well face a couple better.
