we haven’t played an exciting brand of basketball outside of the Dale Brown era.

This shows how out of touch you are. Just wow. Clown

LSU basketball had consistent energy and excitement during the Brown years and haven’t sustained it since, clown.

Maybe after the bowl game it will pick up but there has been very little on TD concerning MBB. There was more about the baseball team posted on here during fall practice.

Renovate the damn stadium. Place sucks. Who wants to watch a game with no a/c? It was 80 and humid last game

Not turning on the A/C last home game was absolutely ridiculous. Everybody at the game was sweaty when they left the game. It’s very possible that is was broken and they didn’t bother fixing it.

LSU needs to hurry up and announce plans for the complete overhaul of the pmac if its going to happen. That design firm has been working on it for 2 years.

Most "fans" didn't even know there was a game today. People need to Boot Up and get behind this team!

I can't tell you how many times over the past 25 years I've gone to a local bar or restaurant and ask them to put a basketball game on when the LSU hoops team is playing - No. 1 because it's inexplicably not already on and then being asked "what game?"

And we've had during that stretch sometimes good teams, sometimes bad teams and all in between. But one constant is there is very little interest and awareness of LSU basketball.

It will take IMHO a significant stretch of sustained success to reverse that because the malaise is so imbedded. What remains of the basketball fan base is old and not rabid or at least not energetic at games and we're now in a second generation of fans who grew up not giving a frick about hoops and have not passed it on to their children.

Combo of a weak OOC schedule (which lets be honest, this team needs right now) and the football team winning the west and going to atlanta. Interest should pick up now that there’s a pause in football. It’s a matter of what kind of crowd you can draw for low-mid major opponents when most students are off campus for Christmas break. Coming from 20 down to win against a decent opponent with KJ going off and Miller’s plea hopefully draws in a decent crowd on Tuesday. I’m planning on getting out there.

Football and baseball are the 2 major sports here and always will be.

You are talking since the 90’s when football barely had people sitting in seats?

For a decade and a half (78-93) nothing was more consistent and exciting than men’s basketball at LSU.

The 86 football and baseball teams won with football winning the SEC and losing to shitty teams and baseball going to Omaha. There was a LOT LESS competition in the SEC and nationally then as Skip pointed out. Even today it is still a regional sport FWIW. The Cali teams have pretty much fallen by the wayside as have the Arizona and Oklahoma teams. It is all SEC pretty much thanks to Ron and Skip.

In 87 the football team made a great run losing to Bama and tied with tOSU. Yes there were exciting games with Martin and Davis and James gang with Hilliard and Gary James but basketball was exciting every game. I recall attending the LSU vs UH game with Phi Slamma Jamma in 82-83. It was an arse whipping but the students and other fans still threw newspapers on the court before the start and still gave them crap the whole game.

There were some great teams and great games at the PMAC then.

I don’t understand the lack of marketing surrounding this sport. There should be promos running on all the local channels. There should be meet&greet at local Walmart/grocery stores.
Then you need to bring in some half time entertainment, red panda, the frisbee dog, local musicians, etc.
There should be drawings for cash, vehicles, other items.
t-shirt on all
Seats in the 100-200 sections
Saturday games should have a live music/tailgate atmosphere with free food
For week night games, do a meal plan with ticket purchase… something so that you can get off work and get to the game especially for kids.
You get out of it what you put in it.
You gotta build awareness and excitement.
It has to be a constant stream and in your face.
All
Of this is not high level complex stuff.
But you gotta build the brand

Maybe instead of taking pictures he should practice shooting. Miller was 1/16 from the field. Scored a whopping 3 points. Thanks god Kj carried his arse yesterday!!

Kinda odd for some people to come after Miller

Since the team would have 3/4 losses already without him lol

Yeah, I don’t get it. WF played good defense on him and he had an off day. He was 1 of 10, not 1 of 16 like the poster stated. There is a difference.

Basketball just can’t get a solid fan foundation for some reason.

The fact that the arena is a dump doesn't help. In fact, it really hurts.

I was there when they beat Arizona. Amazing game.

I'm still not convinced that any team in America played a better game that season than we did that day.

The ceiling for the 2000 team was truly a national title. When they played their A+ game they were the best team in America.

Of course your response is stupid and ironic because you don’t understand the post. The issue is drawing the general public outside of the die hard basketball fans. When Brown was here we were scoring 90ppg, that’s an easy sell to kids and casual fans. After Brown you had Brady which was very tedious to watch playing games in the 60s. Then you had 2 bad coaches which cratered attendance, then Wade who drew interest but was marred in controversy. Again the true blue hoops fans are still going but the Deaf Dome days existed because Brown was scoring tons of points and scheduling blue bloods on CBS and ABC Saturdays. None of those things are happening anymore.

He was forcing everything because for 2 games now we can’t seem to get him the ball consistently. We run a double screen on his side which allows us no space and brings extra defenders to deny him the ball and for whatever reason we don’t just put the ball in his hands to begin with to counter. McMahon has to fix this because it’s been a problem all season where we go into scoring slumps and he’s not getting touches.

He was 1-10. 3 point attempts are included in, not added to FG attempts you moron.

Gotta love rubbernecker bball fans who not only don’t watch the games but can’t even read the box score correctly lol.
