Plese try to write what you mean, especially when calling someone an idiot.

Baseball was bad but not football was sort of mediocre rather than constantly bad. Football was still king. Under Dale Brown, basketball was having its only real success in 3 decades with the exception of maybe the Pistol Pete years. Baseball was definitely not a premier sport at LSU at that time. I had the good fortune of being a student for 1980-1981 seasons. Basketball was lit then, I can attest to that, but football was still top dog with students and fans.

From 78-1993 Basketball made far more money than baseball by a mile and was every bit as exciting

There is no doubt it was more popular by a long stretch until Skip got Baseball rolling. Just watch or read any documentary/biography features on Skip and you'll see how hard he worked to get people to consider attending baseball games.

Hey Adam: If I lived in BR, I would be there every game. But I watch or listen to every game because I live in Florida.

Zion even went to a game
I think McMahon is a good coach and he does some things as good as or better than wade
It’s all gonna come down to recruiting and finding those underrated guys like morant and kj
He needs time considering he had to rebuild whole roster

Agreed. He is probably a process-type guy, I don't think Wade necessarily was. Time will tell on all these but I am hopefull.

It’s always been hard for LSU basketball to shake whatever preseason stigma they’ve been given. This season it was how they were gutted and rebuilding and it would be a bad season. Fan excitement was at a minimum. Then football beat Alabama and won the West which really put basketball on the back burner. We had basketball games without a game thread here.

When they’ve actually got some talent and are starting to play well as a team. The crowds will be weak in December because the schedule is bad but if LSU wins the rest of these non conference games as they should the PMAC will have a good crowd in it as 11-1 LSU opens SEC play against Arkansas.

When LSU men's basketball is rolling, people forget about baseball here. I've seent it myself during the Dale era, from Rudy and Scales all the way up through Shaq and CJ. Most people don't support a team with limited or inconsistent success. You see, they're fair weather fans, kinda like the Bama pukes who happen to "pull for" Duke or Kansas in basketball. It makes me ill.

There were years during the Archer/Hallman days when us LSU fans COULD NOT WAIT for basketball to tip off. If McMahon wins big here (like the general was building up to) Adam won't have to worry about the fan support, it will be there in spades.

Stop putting together awful home schedules.

Casual fans, especially, those outside the BR metro area, aren’t going to adjust their schedules to show up on a Tuesday for a 6:00 pm game vs a MEAC opponent, or Wofford, or UT Arlington. I will, but they won’t. And that is who you need to get a good crowd in the PMAC. This isn’t a knock on McMahon. It was a problem under Wade too.

It doesn’t have to even be great major-conf teams. Just names everyone has heard of. Cincinnati, Miami, NC State, Arizona St, etc. Those aren’t necessarily top 25 programs. But they will generate more interest than a middle of the pack Sun Belt team.

Everyone plays a few “buy games” against inferior opponents, but it seems like LSU hasn’t played an interesting home game in December since 2018 vs Houston. And even then, Houston wasn’t a top 10 program yet

Basketball makes more money than baseball even now-by a mile.

I'm talking about TOTAL revenue. The tv money per school is based on football and men's basketball. The other sports are just along for the ride. If every team at every school had to rely SOLELY on their own revenue producing ability, there would only be 2 sports on each campus. The only 2 that matter, football and men's basketball.

For the neanderthals, I realize LSU baseball and a SMALL number of other baseball programs turn a profit. Same with a handful of the lesbian basketball programs. But not enough to sustain national competition.

Well maybe not hire a coach who leaves a paper trail on how he paid players illegally. Then the NCAA won’t coming searching for major violations.

Hasn't affected Kansas, Petrino-led teams, Duke, NC, etc.

You were not at LSU in the late seventies, eighties and into the nineties. Dale Brown left the Program where he found it. In the crapper. I begrudgingly admire Dale Brown for building the program. I would admire him more if he left the program better off than he did.
