The Skip and Mainieri idiots are working extra hard to get their buddies’ names in front of the fans.

They know a large contingent is too stupid to see past the “they’re one of us” angles.

A Bianco hire would protect Skip's legacy and ensure LSU's continued mediocrity.

I don’t understand the obsession with Bianco. If people weren’t pleased with PM, not gonna be much or any better with him.

Because the tight knit boys club still needs to have a stranglehold on something. They need someone who is one of their own that will continue to stroke their egos and hiring an outsider won’t allow that to happen. Skip has been directly responsible for 37 years of LSU baseball and some don’t want to see that end.

I would be very happy with McDonnell or Godwin. I'm sorry but I can't get behind Bianco. He's a nice guy. I like him. But 1 Omaha appearance in 20+ seasons just isn't sufficient on the resume. If he currently had 5 CWS appearances and a national runner-up like Van Horn at Arkansas, I would be all for him. 1 just screams not able to win when it matters. Sorry...

The "more resources at LSU" argument holds some merit for Louisville or East Carolina-- it doesn't hold near as much for Ole Miss who already has a great fan base, good facilities, and very good recruiting. If you can't win at Ole Miss in baseball, I don't expect the advantages at LSU to put you over the top. I do expect those advantages to put you over the top if you're coming from Louisville or East Carolina, however, and you've already had great success at those lesser resource places.

Agree 100% and you gotta take into consideration who Ole Miss would replace Bianco with and that would be Godwin.

With the changing atmosphere in the college game, for LSU to regain elite status (or maintain it for some of you) Woodward can't miss here. Bianco = lazy hire and would result in middle of the road type years.

Once the nil kicks in the elite programs will start getting more and more fringe 1st rounders to go to school

Corbin would be nuts to leave Vandy. Too many advantages there that don't exist other places
Do they have grade standards that limit him, or do they drop those forbathletes?

“Would do fine” is the problem. Will he be worse than we’re currently at? Unlikely. Marked improvement? Probably not.

If it’s him they’re going to try and pull wool over everyone’s eyes and pretend it’s ole miss that’s been holding him back and most will probably buy it

Exactly. It would be running off Mainieri to hire a LESS accomplished HC...from a direct competitor. It is entirely possible LSU makes Ole Miss BETTER by helping them get out of Bianco purgatory.

Bowing to the influence of players/coaches is how you end up with Mike Archer, Smoke Laval and Johnny Jones. Guys who wouldn't be candidates at LSU but for an association with the university. The only "one of us" hire that has produced great results over the last 40 years is Ed Orgeron. And even then there remains some concern of whether or not he is a great HC or just a guy who "hit" on the right combination of assistant coaches/talented players at the right moment.

LSU could do much worse than Bianco. No question. But LSU is willing to spend big and offers a program that will invest more resources in being great than almost every university in the country. Maybe a lot of the great names are happy where they are. If so, so be it. But I promise you that with what LSU is willing to offer (salary/program) those guys will at least listen to what you have to say and you don't have to immediately default to "one of us."

cause that was his catcher and he built Ole Miss to a solid program.

We just wanted to get rid of a coach who maintained a solid program.

This right here is my position.

The only other name I would like to see given a glance is OConnor, but it is not in the cards. The upside of Godwin is too shiny for him to not be my pick.

Skip let Saban and Pat Henry walk because he didn’t want an LSU coach to rival his legacy in nattys. Sounds like he’s trying to insure the same with the next baseball coach
You don't know any of this and you're talking out of your arse.
