We will not show much against Georgia Southern. We should win a close game with Texas. 10 and 2 means we will have won 4 out of 6 difficult games. Bama plays 3 tough games. Clemson plays one. LSU and TAM and Auburn have 5 or 6 tough games Georgia has three.

Our offensive line improving from 107 in D 1 football to say 30 th will make this team 11 and 1 vs 9 and 3.

Dude what are some of you talking about? In the period of 2012 thru 2017
LSU was:

*54-22 overall (.710 winning %)
*Went to 6 Bowls (3-3 record)
*Went to 3 NYD Bowls (1 Oback;2 Citrus)

Texas was:

*40-36 overall (.526 winning %)
*Went to 4 Bowls (2-2 record)
*Went to Zero NYD Bowls (2 Tex;2 Alamo)

Yes LSU was a far better team and program vs Texas during that 6 year period. LSU was 10-3 last year with a NY6 Fiesta Bowl win and Texas was
10-4 and had a NY6 Sugar Bowl
win by 7 points over an uninspired UGA team LSU had destroyed by 20 points.

Some of y'all are apparently very young if you actually think that is a poor 6 year run by LSU. Could it have been better? Yes but it wasn't a disaster at all.

Ehlinger is a play maker, with at least one impact WR.
But, this Tiger defense returns enough at each level (+ Stingley).

LSU's running game will be much improved. The Texas defense is talented and young, will probably come together as the season progresses. Burrow is clutch and tested.

I think LSU wins within the number in 2019.

Texas is on the upswing and 2020 would be a pick 'em at a neutral site - assuming Ehlinger is still there as a senior.

Should be a fun series. But nothing TEXAS does on O or D is very impressive.....

Texas has a QB who, with not much of a running game behind him, accounted for 41 TDs (and only 5 INTs). That doesn't impress you?

Beating Okie or UGA is hard. Beating both in the same season doesn't impress you?

Also guys, as I've said before, the DBs Texas lost were pretty good, but the front 7 guys on D (except for Omenihu, who didn't get drafted until the 5th round) all sucked. The guys starting in their place are all better, and all played very well against Georgia. The turnover on D is a net positive for Texas.

Lastly, 2 years ago, Texas had the best DB recruiting class of all time, for any college program. We also know your new offense better than you do. Your new offense will struggle against our DBs.

This will be a close game.

I cautiously optimistic for these reasons:
1) Herman has another year under his belt incorporating his defense.
2) UT had a tremendous year last season and came on strong beating OU (with Kyler Murray) and UGA. This is impressive granted arguments can be made that OU has no Defense and UGA was not up for their game.
3) They have a play making QB that runs a lot and without Devin White to run him down in the open field, that could be a problem.

I'm feeling better about LSU offense and I sure hope the OL and DL can stay healthy and make big improvements. The OL and DL are the only concerns I have as weak points, assuming the offense will be improved.

My prediction: I think we lose twice. Loses to Texas and Alabama. The melt will be of epic proportions for the Texas lose.

But we make it in to the playoffs and all-in-all have a great season.

Clemson has zero highly ranked opponents.
Cake walk to cfp.

Okies have one team likely to be ranked. Tex. They will play twice. Okies get a cfp berth if win conf title game.

Bama gets a cfp spot.

That leaves one cfp spot for pac12, Notre Dame, big 10, lsu, an undefeated low major upstart, say Boise.

10-2 without even winning division is very unlikely to get more than a nice ny6 berth.
The b10 champ or p12 champ at 11-2 more deserving, especially if lsu loses Tex game and Okies take them down twice.

I sent a text to a Longhorn friend of mine and asked him if he was planning on making it to Austin for this game. He, of course, said yes. I told him that I already felt bad for him because that’s going to be a long drive home back to Odessa after we beat them down. His response was, “Did you see what we did to UGA?” I told him, that without me trying to be a SEC homer, I don’t feel like UT got the best version of UGA last season. He then replied that it won’t matter because they will have the refs in this game.

Dont be too confident.. i think this game is a coin flip.

Then again, i felt the same way going into the season opener last year vs Miami in Dallas, and we won pretty handily.. this will be different though, i think.

ESPN wants Texas football to be back so bad that they grab at any glimmer of hope they give and run with it to the extreme. Same with Notre Dame, USC, Alabama, Michigan, and Ohio State when they are down. From the moment fall practice kicks off I hope O has the Texas quarterback saying “we’re baaaaaaaaaack” after the bowl game on loop.

any of those teams would beat this Texas team.

He would have to argue we were going to be worse. There is no way he can argue that.
